Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina -- You Are On Your Way!

It's been almost a week since Scotty McCreery, the high school baseball pitcher and grocery store bagger from North Carolina, won this season's American Idol crown.

If you follow me on Twitter, you know I was very excited on finale night. I love when artists that a real, humble, and appreciative are noticed. I am very happy for Scotty and for Lauren Alaina who won second place -- what an amazing job!

WOOOHOOOO AND CONGRATULATIONS SCOTTY AND LAUREN--MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE!!

I believe we are all put on earth equipped with special talents and an individual purpose. If we trust God to guide us, He will reveal them and use us for good. I believe that Scotty and Lauren are doing just that and in doing so can touch a million hearts with the love of God and bring millions of smiles around the world.

I pray that having crazy work schedules and being in a tough industry that these two will be protected and guided on each step of their life's journey. I ask that God continue to minister to them so that they grow deeper in their faith and are able to spend quality time with the Lord.

Jason Michael Carroll ... Noticing Numbers!

I love technology and social media. It allows you to keep on the pulse of what is happening around the world in real time--and allows you to hear new music as is heads out of the gate.

As you know, I love music, and have interviewed artists and reviewed CDs for a music magazine, so I listen to a lot of it. Everyone has an opinion and opinions are just that--and I have mine ;)

So, recently thanks to social media, I heard the soon-to-be-released single by Jason Michael Carroll entitled "Numbers". I really enjoyed this lighthearted song. Jason with his amazing God-given voice sings about the daily presence of 'numbers all around, flying up and down' before us. The way Jason throws out the significance of certain numbers brought me back to how Billy Joel threw snippets at us in "We Didn't Start the Fire". It made you carefully listen to the lyrics while bopping along to the song. I listen and I bop to 'Numbers'!

Those of you that know me or that read my blog, will surely pick up on my favorite numerical references in the song-- "John 3:16" and "The Second Coming". Don't let those numbers just pass you by because they are two of the most important numbers of our lives!

First off.... Hello World... I know I have been giving you the same excuse now for the last year it seems, but honestly--it's the truth so I'm sorry I have not had time to blog. I hope to get back online again..I trust that WILL happen.

I want to thank Jimmy Wayne because he has brought the plight of kids aging out of foster care and becoming homeless into the light--and into my awarenes.

This week it has been super freezing all along the East Coast-- even Florida! Some states have been crippled with snow and it's only December. I love a white Christmas but it's a little early yet. This morning the weatherman described today as freezing, blustery, and biting .. ouch! I felt it as I was cleaning the snow off of my car and my fingers began to get numb. I hurried into the house to warm up. Thank you Lord that I have that option.

I started to remember last year when I watched Jimmy live on Ustream huddling in his tent on the side of the road in a blustery winter snow storm. It made me think of the kids and people that are homeless and living on the street today. I know for a fact that there are many that take cover in Central Park in NYC at night because I have done some Midnight Runs to that area.
(I also see a few people in my area that I believe live on the street)

I know I am just one person, but one is better than none, so I looked for something that I could find that would be a blessing even if just in a small way. Thank you Lord that I found something in so simple and easy yet wonderful. For only 86cents, I can buy a pair of handwarmers that keep hands warm for 10 hours! (and I am sure they could work in shoes too).

I am really excited to find these and so I am sharing them with you. Yes, they are in our store, but I am more excited to share them because of the blessing they will give to someone this winter. The few pennies we will receive if you purchase any warmers will go right back into my buying more to hand out as well. I'm not twisting anyone's arm so please don't look at it that way. I'm not going to make any excuses for not blogging lately and I know I was mid-way through my story.... but I am so busy that I haven't even turned on my computer. I guess I could blog from my droid, but it is easier to tweet and read my emails on the run than sit down at the desk.

I promise I will get back soon (in case you missed me) -- I just need to be stationary for a minute and sit down at the computer.

For those of you that read my blog, you already know who Bucky Covington is --so no need to tell you that .. well, I haven't seen Bucky Covington or the beautiful lady in his life since last month, but word has it from the street that the couple is wearing big smiles and that Miss Katherine is wearing a beautiful engagement ring! Sooooo someone got engaged for their birthday? Wooohooo!

To Bucky and Katherine... not sure when I will see you at this moment, but I just wanted to say that you guys know I love you and pray for your wonderful life together. I am soooo thrilled at the news! Anyone that has seen the two of you together knows how much love you have for one another. CONGRATS AND HUGS

My Journey Halfway Across America with Jimmy Wayne (Project Meet Me Halfway)

Hey All --

As you may or may not know already, this past weekend Jimmy Wayne completed his journey from Nashville to Phoenix(even after breaking his ankle he finished the last 5 miles!) I am soooo proud of this guy, my eyes were filled with tears of joy when he reached his destination. (No, I could not make it to Phoenix and I really, really, wanted to be there to share this with him and the other MMHers, but I did listen, watch, and cry.)

Rather than report the finale event, I am blogging about my experience during JW's walk. Please check out Jimmy Wayne’s official Project Meet Me Halfway site to read about the finale events covered by multiple media HERE.

Jimmy's intention is to bring awareness to the situation of teens aging out of the foster care system before they are equipped to be emancipated (something jw experienced himself). Once the kids reach a certain age, that chapter in their lives is ended and they are thrown out into the world-- many unable to support themselves, ending up homeless, in jail, dead, in sex slavery. So, before I start Part 2, please say a prayer for this generation of teens that are searching, that are aging out of foster care, that are without parents, that are homeless.

PART 2:
From the moment Jimmy ("JW") took his first step, I was one of hundreds of people (which eventually grew to thousands!) who was glued to the computer or attached to a cell phone waiting for a tweet, a facebook/myspace post, or a live ustream broadcast. In fact, because JW was continually broadcasting live from his droid (it's a really cool everything but the kitchen sink kinda cell phone--more popular than the iPhone), many fans purchased their own droids --and, yes I did!-- Mind you, I needed a new phone and I was seriously considering the iPhone, but thanx to JW, I went droidy :)
(so now I also broadcast from my droid on the ustream.com channel "cathyanne").

Little did Jimmy know that the winter he decided to walk across the south would be more like surviving in the frozen tundra. Just to clarify, when I say JW walked, he really walked and walked alone for the most part--sleeping outside on the side of the road! No four-star hotel or five-course dining! Jimmy took this approach to simulate the life of a homeless teen for the world. He was blessed by the kindness of strangers leaving him food or inviting him into their home for a meal or a night's sleep.

This blog is about my journey with JW--one of the people at the other end of his droid in Twitterville, but I am only one of many and I can only tell my story and share what has been shared with me by other MMHers (TGF's :)

Jimmy kept us attached to the strap on his chest--right near his heart and we literally kept him company on his journey. His humble, unassuming, genuine heart allowed him to share raw emotions with us--and they ran the gammit from loneliness, tears, happiness, laughter, or fear--and we became more invested everyday. Jimmy became a precious brother or dear friend to his followers.

So when the cell phone rings, you answer it, right? Well, for most of JW's followers, our cell phones notified us as soon as JW posted a message or was broadcasting live. Those alerts could be any time of the day--or night! But, as soon as we heard it,we knew JW would be checking in with us. If there was a lapse of time between JW checkins, there was some concern and we would begin to bombard him with messages so he would reply. (JW, Tweet Tweet Little Birdie :)

One night JW shared that heard gunshots while he was in his tent--I know I prayed extra hard that night. On another night in the midst of gusting winds and a raging storm, JW ustreamed so we could keep him company until he fell asleep...and that he did while we were right there with him. Jimmy wasn't homeless himself, but what he was going through put things into perspective as to what kids on the street have to endure--thank God Jimmy had warm clothing and a tent (courtesy of Marmot)--the reality is that many homeless kids don't even have a coat! Imagine the loneliness a child would feel in this situation because more than likely they would not have a droid and people at the other end keeping them company.

For those of us that believe in the power of prayer, prayers for protection were daily! (thanx to all my prayer partners and a special thanx to NIXACOUNTRY.COM who supported JW, kept his music in heavy rotation, and conducted scheduled prayer time! (Wow.. that really is what it is all about!) We covered Jimmy. Thank you Lord.

During the walk, Jimmy was whisked away to do several shows and dropped back in the same spot. In February, I attended a St. Jude's Benefit in Connecticut, you can read more about that in a previous post. In March, my friend Eva and I drove a total of 19 grueling hours through snow, ice, and hail storms to see Jimmy and let him know we continued to support him on his journey. Is was at this show in Georgia that Jimmy first mentioned the idea of Street Teams... Say What?....

Well, it is after midnight and I missed my daily deadline so I am going to finish this for now ---hope I'm not boring you and I haven't even begun. Here is a video I recorded of Jimmy singing Sara Smile in Hiawasse, Georgia in March HERE.

My Walk Halfway Across America with Jimmy Wayne (Part 1) -- Project Meet Me Halfway

So this is day two and I am back in the saddle :) – so let’s try this thing again (I still don’t have my desktop functional—I have been bouncing back and forth between my droid and my laptop and the ease is just not the same as sitting at my desk). Therefore, I am going to post this blog in several parts. So here goes…

PART 1:
For those of you who do not know who singer/songwriter Jimmy Wayne is, do your heart some good and google this guy. I previously posted a number of entries about him, but there is so much out there that I cannot do him justice.(I especially love the Faith and Fame series on Youtube--I will get the link and put it here maybe tomorrow). No matter what your preference of music, this is not about music, this is about heart and soul. Check Jimmy out please and see if God speaks to your heart.

“JW” (as we call him) is definitely connected to technology—in fact, he single-handedly brought many fans out of the dark ages through his pinging, facebooking, tweeting, and ustreaming. (Now, if you are in the dark ages too, you probably have no idea what I am talking about—there is a whole ‘nother world out there waiting to be explored). Remember google is our friend—if you need to search some words, don’t forget to come back and finish reading :) It is because of JW's using communication technology to the fullest, that we also joined him on his journey halfway across America.

Let’s rewind a bit to January 1, 2010. On this freezing cold winter day, Jimmy Wayne took his first steps out of Nashville leaving from Monroe Harding Children’s Home to commence his Project Meet Me Halfway--he was on a mission to bring awareness to teens who age out of the foster care system and become homeless. Jimmy unknowingly was beginning a lifechanging journey and he was traveling on foot--Destination: HomeBase Youth Services in Phoenix. (January 1st--this is where MY journey across American began as well.)

Not being able to travel to Nashville to share the kickoff event with JW, many of his fans gathered online, talked to people at the venue, viewed pictures and read articles. I honestly don’t remember if there was a specific ustream on that day, but I can vow that many others like myself were there for JW in spirit—cheering him and praying for him and we had NO CLUE what to expect in the months to come.

Being obedient to the call of God in your life leads you places you never thought you would go and brings situations and people into your life that you never expected. To this I am sure Jimmy can attest.

So, in a nutshell, shortly after Jimmy's newly released CD "Sara Smile" hit the market, he basically put his music career on hold to give back for the blessings he has received in his life. (This is not something that record labels like to have happen—but trusting in God’s plan always is more rewarding).

And in the best laid plans of mice and men--what originally was calculated to be a two month trek wound up being seven months ....and the beat goes on...

Hello world!
Ok, so where do I start… It’s actually been several months since I posted a blog…. The reason-- busy stuff, fun stuff, computer issues --you name it and let’s just roll it into a big ball and call it “LIFE!"

Side note: with respect to Life, God is good, I praise Him everyday, for every breath, for waking up in the morning and everything before—after—and in between. No matter what life brings, my God allows it to work for good. That is surely something I know and rest in. Thank you Lord!

Moving on--Interwoven among all the many factors of my not blogging was definitely enjoying music. Music that is uplifting, positive--has a beat and can dance to it …haha .. sorry, I think I was regressing to the American Bandstand criteria for rating good music for a moment. For those that don't get that comment, google is our friend...check it out :)

I want introduce you to an artist that I hope you begin to hear a lot about in the next few months and keep hearing about him for years to come!

While in Nashville, I ran into Billy Dawson -- a friend that the I "met" about a year ago. God says you will know one another by His love—I immediately knew Billy was a sweet brother the first time I read something he posted and it was confirmed the first time we spoke.

When I first heard Billy play it was apparent that he was blessed with talent, but until recently I had no clue that he was blessed with as much talent as he is! and he has been working very hard to perfect it. That being said, please keep your eyes and ears open for Billy Dawson.

Billy has opened for Tim McGraw, Dierks Bentley (and a slew of other people you would recognize) and I believe it will not be long before he is opening to large crowds as the headliner. I heard several of his new songs including what I believe will be the first single on his debut CD--it is amazing. You cannot truly appreciate his guitar prowess on the song, but it does showcase his beautiful voice. (I know a guy's voice really isn't supposed to be described as beautiful, but hey, this is my blog and I call 'em as I see 'em :). I don't usually like to compare artists, but I'm putting it out there that Billy as an artist reminds me of Keith Urban in many ways. Billy though definitely is his own person, no copycat--and will make his own way following the plan God has laid out before him.

A video for the single, HOLD ON TO JULY is being shot sometime this week. I don’t know the plans regarding release of the cd, single, or video, but keep your eyes and ears open for it. I am sad to say that I did not attend any of the shows during the American Idol Live Tour this year, but clearly Casey James is my favorite. His back story is inspiring and he appears to be a sweet and humble guy--the kind of artist that deserves to make it. I have enjoyed the southern rock, bluesy music since I was young. Casey has that southern, Texas, bluesy rock thing going on -- not only can sing, but he plays a mean stratocaster.

Casey's story of drive and determination to overcome adversity (the result of a motorcycle accident) reminds me so much of my old boyfriend's story, Bob Mayo (Yes--It is the same "Bob Mayo on keyboards, Bob Mayo on keyboards" of Frampton/Journey/Foreigner fame). Bobby also had a near fatal accident when he was in his teens. It crushed his face and his hand almost destroying his dreams to pursue music. Being told he would never play keyboards again, Bobby he took up guitar....and guess what, he became a master of both guitar and keyboards. Casey's mastering the strings is the true meaning of "no pain; no gain"! I believe Casey James will be around for a very long time and I am sure I will get to see him on his own tour. I pray he remains humble and God draws him closer. (p.s. I have been dubbed Goldicath -- a member of the International Goldsquad :)

A few others this Season 9 American Idol definitely are worth good listening---Sweet Mamasox (Crystal Bowersox) reminds me so much of Janis Joplin without the Southern Comfort influence (and yes, I actually do know of that which I speak -- I have a lenghthy Janis Joplin up close and personal experience)

Opening Eyes, Ears, and Hearts -- Jimmy Wayne, Meet Me Halfway

As you know, my blog is called Heart-throscopy -- my word for taking a little peek into my heart. Actually, I don't share a lot of personal stuff in my blogs and mostly write about music or certain artists. I write about music because I love it, but please don't misunderstand --I love music because it is a vehicle in which God can work on people's hearts. This is one reason I prefer artists that are humble and are sensitive to God because they put out a positive message which can benefit others.

Sometimes music uplifts your spirits and can help you heal or give you joy. Other times, music can make you remember, reflect, and appreciate certain things in your life. I guess that is one of the meanings of the old saying means "Music soothes the savage beast." (I always forget if the period goes before or after the parenthesis.. oh well)

Many people are unaware that it is because of the hand of God that I was able to write for a music magazine, meet many artists, share with them about God's love, and keep them in my prayers that God will draw them and use them. I don't like "celebrity" per se, but celebrity can be used for good if that person realizes they are in that position because God has put them there for a purpose.

Soooo, all this rambling is for a reason. This past Monday I attended a Concert for Kids to benefit St. Jude' Hospital which was held in Connecticut. A few of my favorite guys played --Bucky Covington and Jimmy Wayne (who took a quick detour from his trek for the benefit). But instead of writing about that concert, I want to use this post for Jimmy Wayne's project. (Thank you Bucky Covington for also supporting Jimmy Wayne's project)

God's hand is all over singer/songwriter Jimmy Wayne. I have been so touched and moved by Jimmy's Campaign "Meet Me Halfway." If you read my previous blog about this, you may already know that Jimmy is putting himself out there in a big way for children in the foster care system who "age out" and are sent out into the world without resources and, therefore, unprepared and homeless. Jimmy was one of those children and wants to use his experience to help others in the same situation. (Thank you Jimmy for using your "Gift of Experience")

Following Jimmy daily on his trek from Nashville to Phoenix, amidst intolerable weather conditions, has been an extremely heart-tugging experience for those of us who are situated in Jimmy's blackberry. (Connected by technology and ready to support him and respond to his contact in an instant) (Opps, I forgot that Jimmy moved us from his Blackberry to his Android)

Jimmy started his journey on January 1, 2010 and has spent most of each day walking, thinking, and talking to his viewers. The reality of simulating a homeless teen has brought back memories of his life on the streets which is becoming "rocket-fuel" for his cause. He is reflective, he is thankful, he is inquisitive, and he is determined.

From my own experiences of working with adolescents -- in detention centers, in hospitals, in churches, and on the streets,I can tell you that the problem of homeless teenagers is one that not given much media coverage or thought of for that matter by the mainstream. Hopefully, with Jimmy's and your help, that will change.

Please examine your hearts, see what role God would like you to take in sharing his love and helping the next generation of our country to become self-supporting and productive citizens. There are so many ways we each can help both actively and passively.

Jimmy Wayne to Walk HalfWay Accross America for At-Risk Kids

I know that there are a lot of other artists out there that pick a charity for tax purposes without really having a personal connection to the cause, but not Jimmy Wayne -- Jimmy "talks the talk" and "walks the walk" for a cause I know he is truly passionate about.

Jimmy intends to brave the frigid winter climate and walk halfway across America to raise funds for at-risk youth. He knows from his own experience what it is like to be an at-risk child and to be a homeless child. He credits his success in life to his foster parents who met him halfway by taking a chance on him, helping him to turn his life around.

If you ever met Jimmy, you know he is a passionate and compassionate guy. He is a giver, not a taker. He is now using his celebrity to give back and to bring attention to the plight of homeless children and young adults -- especially those youth who leave the system with no direction or resources and are literally turned out on the street without recourse.

On January 1, 2010, Jimmy will be venturing out on foot to trek from Nashville, TN to Phoenix, AZ hoping to raise awareness and funds for these youth. Don't expect Jimmy to be walking during the day and relaxing in a four-star hotel -- Jimmy is dedicated and driven. He will be walking in whatever weather January decides to deliver and plans to sleep on the ice-cold ground just as many of our youth do on a daily basis. (This is actually a dangerous venture, with susceptibility for illness and complications such as frostbite and on another note--street crime).

Jimmy asks that you "Meet Me Halfway" (as his trek is called)(in conjunction with HomeBase Youth Services) and calls each of us to action:
"Because I was helped when I needed it, I want to try and help now. If the bit of celebrity I have can help me raise awareness of this situation --that there are kids and young people out there who need our help, then I feel like I have accomplished my goal. I'm not asking people to come out and walk with me, but I am asking them to meet me halfway by getting involved-- donate money, adopt a kid, learn more about the foster child/foster parent program in your local community. There's so much one person can do, and so many ways they can make a difference. It just takes one person to help someone to a better life."

It's the end of the year and it has been snowy, rainy, and cold so I have been staying home cuddled up with THE Good Book, some crocheting, and some music. There are a number of concerts I would love to be attending, but life sometimes changes the plans you make -- so, I won't be going to any of the shows I originally thought I would be. (but January is already planned--God willing).

Even though I cannot travel to see Bucky this month, I hope many of you are going to attend at least one or more of his last few shows of the year.

Prior to Bucky Covington's performance at the New Year's Eve event sponsored by 93.1 The Wolf in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, he will be performing TOMORROW, December 29, 2009, at an event sponsored by ASCAP -- An Evening with Bucky Covington at Nashville's Hard Rock Cafe. This event is to celebrate the Hard Rock's re-opening of the Nashville venue.

Bucky will also be presenting his winnings from his successful game-playing on Smarter Than a Fifth Grader to the charity close to his heart -- the Arthritis Foundation (Tennessee chapter). Bucky was recently named celebrity ambassador for the Arthritis Foundation and he will continue to serve as its ambassador through 2010. Hello world.. sorry, but due to life and technology.. I have been absent from my blogging duties for longer than I realized. OOPS.

So since I have been gone for a while, I am just going to hit you with a whole bunch of things (with info and links and lots of music to listen to) since numerous things have transpired in the world of the artists that I enjoy and support.

I have also enjoyed many shows which I have not blogged about.. my bad.. sorry. I might start to post some of those things in the blogs to come.

Let me catch you up ..please note that these artists are not in any particular order .. (except for Bucky of course..he gets top billing because God introduced him to me for His own purpose --SIDE NOTE: HEY JMC.. you know I love ya too :)

First of all, like I have said previously, I enjoy artists that are humble and appreciative and these guys are definitely that! (they each also have a fantastic love of life and great sense of humor) (so why not share some positive music!)
(p.s. I have not personally met Chris Young but I know many that have -- the others I can tell you personally that they are really down-to-earth and wonderful guys)

BUCKY COVINGTON
Well, Bucky is busy as usual touring all across the United States. Honestly, I don't thing he has stopped touring for more than a week or two here and there since he put out his first CD in March 2007. (that came right off of his American Idol 2006 tour -- I guess even though his first plane ride was in 2006, he has probably flown more than most people by now -- and in unusual planes too!)

I am so proud to see how much Bucky has grown over the last few years -- in so many ways. This is one boy for whom God has called me to be diligent in prayer. In doing so, he and his family have a special spot in my heart. (Disclaimer: I pray for a number of the artists I know and enjoy, but Bucky was specifically put on my heart by God so I guess it's a calling of such)

Since returning home from the concert in Rockingham in late September, I have heard Bucky Covington's new single "Gotta Be Somebody" regularly played on the radio (but not quite nearly as much as I would like). This song is really good. The video for the song made it into the CMT top 20 countdown. Go check it out (p.s. I AM IN THIS VIDEO ..FIRST ROW :) you can't see me, but I can :) Click HERE for video.

Jason, like Bucky, has a recognizable voice and he has gotten even better since his time on American Idol. I think he will be around for a long time.

I admire the faith that Jason is not ashamed to share by walking the walk in his service to others and sharing the love God has put in his heart. His laid-back life is definitely due to the peace God has given him. I am so thrilled for what God has in store for him.

Jason has already started his national tour and will be coming to a venue near you. The plans are for his first CD to be released in early 2010.

He exhibits the same values as his brother which I believe stem from his faith and family. His voice is definitely recognizable and I think he is going to have a future as an artist. Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy -- what a precious guy! Jimmy Wayne has been around for a while and has endured many trials and tribulations in his life and in his career only to create an even more giving and appreciative young man. Jimmy's current CD "Sara Smile" is out now and also available on iTunes and at Amazon.com.

The first single "Sara Smile" is a beautiful rendition!! Jimmy we are so proud of you!!

This song is special to Jimmy and is the one that started his career many years ago. Written by Daryl Hall and made famous by Hall & Oates, Sara Smile is the first single off Jimmy's new album --and wooohoo.. both Daryl Hall and John Oates have joined Jimmy on his remake of the song. If you read my blog, you should already know about Jason Michael Carroll (or JMC as he is known. (not to confuse the Jason's on my page --I'll call this Jason "JMC")

JMC who is well-known for his gifted voice, but also his great hair. This year JMC has sported several gradually shorter lengths (I've heard all kinds of opinions in the trenches, but it's his hair--he needs to have some say!) -- so the photos for the new CD show JMC sporting his new shorter doo. (Looks good!)

As JMC says himself, no matter what he sings "it sounds like a dirt road" -- It's so true -- his voice is recognizablely country no matter how rockin' he gets (and he does rock!)

DANNY GOKEY
Danny is fresh off of the American Idol tour and already on the first professional tour of his career. He was signed to a country label which we might think is a little unusual, but Danny's giving attitude and the expression of his faith in his songs has a place in country music. The key is whether or not country fans will accept him since he isn't true country. Since country music fans are mixed with people of faith and American Idol watchers, they could very well accept Danny into this genre with open arms.

I know God is in control and Danny puts Him first so no matter what the future brings, Danny belongs right where he is. Danny is a singer using his talent to benefit children and his foundation.

Let me tell you a little about Chris Young. I've known "about" him for a while (Chris was the winner of Nashville Star a few years ago), I but never really listened to more than the few singles that were released. Recently, someone sent me his CD (thanx Icyfire)and I like what I hear.(I admire and love to hear a person's heart expressing their faith in their music).

Chris is definitely a cowboy with a soulful voice and he stays true to his country music roots. His new CD "The Man I Want to Be" is available on iTunes and the video with the same name has just released and I love it. Watch the video HERE

Well, word was out that tomorrow morning was the release of the new video so I was patiently and excitedly waiting to see Jason Castro's official video for his first single Let's Just Fall in Love Again. (if you have to ask who Jason Castro is.. ummmm, you haven't been reading my blog..or watching American Idol 2008)

This is the first single off his highly anticipated CD release from Atlantic Records due sometime in the new year so it is all very exciting.

So, I went to bed at a decent time tonight so I could get up early (gotta get into the office kind of early tomorrow) and my phone was tweeting like crazy. The tweets to my phone each get announced so they are audible. I was trying to sleep and the phone just kept going off. When it goes crazy like that, I know something is happening and something is a flutter out there. (Thanx Guys.. I actually do appreciate it)

At first, I looked at the clock and just couldn't get myself to read the tweets, when I did, I thought "I can wait till the morning to check out the video". Well, the dog decided he wanted to go out NOW too. LOL All things happen for a reason. I also decided I couldn't wait to see the video. Hence, here I am on the computer in the early morn (1:00 am -- I usually would be awake at this hour if I hadn't gone to bed early tonight)

Well, I am definitely glad I decided to put on the computer and watch the video. I absolutely love it!! WHOOP!!

The song is so positive, upbeat, and fun and the video mirrors that --definitely a believable Jason video (of course, I already know what alot of the girls out there are saying about it too).

I have to say that the actress in the video is the spitting image of one of Jason Castro's true supporters. (a/k/a C4Castro or CC from the northeast -- you'll know who I mean) I can't stop thinking I am watching her in the video LOL and I am sure a lot of those that know her are thinking the same thing.

CONGRATULATIONS!! JASONNN! IT'S A WINNER :)

Rockingham's most famous son --Bucky Covington Returns Home and Has a New Single!

Ok so I'm a day late and a dollar short.. ummm well, maybe it's more like a week late on writing this blog...and I'm not even going to begin to count the dollars.

About two or so weeks ago, I heard the news that Bucky Covington was going to be going home to Rockingham, NC for a hometown concert and to give back to his community. It was short notice so I was not really sure until the last day if I would be able make arrangements to go. I gave it totally to the Lord and one by one He put all my "ducks in a row" and let me see His hand in it (thank you Lord). Also because of the short notice, a lot of Bucky's original and avid supporters who have been pushing for a hometown concert were unfortunately unable to make it. (FACT)

Side Note:(For those Rockinghamians that may read this blog--and I know that several do--Bucky has truly wanted and tried to return home and give back to his community for the last few years, but potential plans were always thwarted by the powers that be. Don't think for one second that Bucky is not proud to be from Rockingham and not appreciative of how his hometown made his new career possible, because that is farthest from the truth! AND THIS I KNOW!)

Well, Friday afternoon began a ROAD TRIP. For those of you that have favorite artists or favorite vacation spots, you understand the fun of a ROAD TRIP. My friend Lori actually traveled almost 5 hours to get to me and then we traveled another 12 hours together. (Poor Lori had an extremely extra long and excrutiating return home trip, but all-in-all, I think she will say it was worth it.)

I first have to give a shout out to all of my Buckaneer sisters and friends that I saw on this trip. Most of you hold special places in my heart and prayers and it was wonderful to get to see you again. My heart is in the south and my southern sisters are very sweet. (Btw, special shoutout and hugs to SM and PB, KC, DM, TC --I hope they know how precious they are!) (and it's ok that you don't know who because they do, so it's all good). I also want to give a shoutout to Mark Miller of Sawyer Brown--a brother in the Lord--he may never read this, but our convo was the best! and we are in agreement in prayer! (By the way, we also prayed that God would hold the rain back that day and even though it was predicted 70% rain--our Lord came thru because we stood on faith!)

Well, back to the concert -- Bucky was working with a few charities while in town and the concert was also for their benefit -- most everyone brought a food donation--I understand about over a ton of food was collected (is that possible?).

I had a VIP pass (thanx WSOC) so I got to talk to Bucky a bit and got a great spot for the concert. I have to tell you that this was the most wonderful concert I have attended and I have attended more than you can count. Bucky has grown as an artist over the last few years and his live shows are worth the traveling to. (yeah, I know I'm ending my sentence with a preposition). Anyway, this Saturday, Bucky and his band were on fire. It was high energy from the stage as well as from the crowd. There was a mutual feeling of love and appreciation in the air and it was truly apparent. Bucky finally was able to come home.

Bucky pleased the crowd with some familiar and favorite tunes which got the entire crowd singing and bouncing along. (It had to be a little wierd for him to be looking out at a sea of family and friends--both new and old--and be the hometown boy and country star at the same time, but he did it well.)

He also shared some of the new songs on his upcoming Sophomore CD which should be dropping about April. (It will also be around the time that the concert will air as a one-hour special on GAC TV) (If you aren't aware how the music business works, release dates always seem to never happen on the date that first intend to release, there are always delays and push back dates --so we are hoping for April). Mayor Gene gave Bucky a plaque and a new key to the City (he received his first after returning home from American Idol).

Many of you may not know but Bucky has eclectic taste in music which spreads across several genres and one of his favorite groups is Nickeback. So, for Bucky's new single, he chose a Nickelback song "Gotta Be Somebody" and he does it well. Take a listen to his new single "Gotta Be Somebody" HERE and ask your radio station to play it.

Disclaimer here.. usually when I mention Bucky Covington...you can apply much of the same sentiments to Rocky--his twin brother (who plays percussion in the Bucky's band). Even though they are definitely different in many ways, they are also similar in many ways including their humility, sense of humor, graciousness, and down-to-earth manner--of course being cuties too, but I don't go there--not my style--but I sure hear it and agree that he is/they are sweethearts.

Last Few Months of Concerts - Bon Jovi thought

Over the last six months, I have been to numerous concerts, but I have been so busy that I have not had the chance to blog them. I don't always share the personal side of my concert experiences because they are just that .. PERSONAL ..and I am a good keeper of confidences (and it is not sexual personal!) But,I do share some stuff and of course I share my thoughts, because this is my little corner of the world. :)

If you read my blog on a regular basis or you know me, you can pretty much surmise concerts I have attended as there are a handful of artists that I will venture a distance to see and support.

I traveled to see Bucky Covington about three times, Jason Michael Carroll twice, Jimmy Wayne twice, and Billy Ray Cyrus once. Each time I not only was able to hear great music, but I was able to meet up with old friends and hang out with the girls.

Last month, I traveled to New Jersey to see Rascal Flatts and Darius Rucker in concert for the first time. My friend Phyllis and I drove through the Friday NY/NJ traffic in the pouring rain to get to the venue only to find out that the venue was an amphitheatre -- half in and half outdoors. (Can you guess which part we were in? haha right.. the first row outdoors!! So up went the hair into a ponytail and I enjoyed the night.

It is my experience that the people that attend a country concert are usually very friendly (much more so than at other concerts I have attended over my many years of attendance). So, even though everyone was in the rain and mud, they were having a great time and so I enjoyed the people and I enjoyed the music.

But, I'm writing this blog to share the experience of being at a country music concert in south Joisy (Jersey - for you that are not from the northeast).

The fans were definitely lovers of country music mostly from NJ, Philly, and Delaware because the venue was close to all three states. The notable part was that during the intermission the loudspeaker blared Bon Jovi and the entire group of 20,000 people in unison sang along to Living on a Prayer and Wanted Dead or Alive. If you aren't from Joisy (or the tri-state area) than you might not understand, but South Jersey is the place that calls Jon Bon Jovi their own. So, no matter if you were at a rock concert, a hip-hop concert, or a country concert, I think that that the attendees might react the same. Something happens to a Joisy crowd when their hear music by their boy Jon. (Jon Bon Jovi also has a few country hits as well if you aren't listening to that genre -- who wouldathunkit? ..btw, Sebastian Bach has one too and it's really good).

I know I'm going talking too much about Rascal Flatts and Darius Rucker, but they put on a good show -- they are seasoned performers and a large following. I would have preferred being at a concert of one of "my boys", but I enjoyed the night.

Random thought--As I've said before, I am saddened by and dislike entitlement--people that think they deserve things because they are better than the rest of the world, so you won't find me supporting any of those types of people. I love people in general, but I am saddened by some behavior.

Have you ever heard or seen Lifehouse's Everything Drama?

In researching a particular topic this morning for another blog I am working on, I came across the video for Lifehouse's song "Everything" which was used in a performance by a group of teenagers.

Lifehouse is a band on the Geffen label. It is not a Christian band, but from what I have read, some of the original members had deep faith and previously played in churches as a Christian band. The lyrics of their songs have touched many hearts and have been used in numerous TV shows and commericals. If you listen to the lyrics of this video, I pray you will be moved as well.

I have seen this particular drama over and over this past year, but every time I watch it, it brings me to tears because the message is so powerful!

I have shared it with friends and some of them see the message and are moved and yet some do not understand it. I pray that as you are looking at this video that the message touches your heart.

One additional thought that I take away from this video is that even though God gives us life, He did not create us to be robots. God gives us the freedom to make our own decisions. We can easily be seduced by the things of the world. Those choices can cause us to go down wrong paths and reap the consquences of the actions we take. God is still waiting for us to turn around and grab hold of Him. When we do, He will move mountains for His children and take on our enemies as our Father.

(No matter what you have done, God is waiting for you to make that U-Turn back to Him. It's not about religion, it's about having a relationship with a living God who loves you more than you can fathom.)

Things that make you go HMMMMMMMMMM........(credit to Arsenio Hall for that)

Sooooooooooo I have "friends" here and there as we all do and we chitchat about this and that such as music we love etc. It just so happens that some of my "friends" are also involved in the music business so discussions can sometimes go beyond the "music" and into the "business" matters. I also have lots of friends that are fans and pick up on some of the "business" aspect of promoting their favorite artists. (You would not believe the things the fans do in the trenches to get their favorite artists pushed up the ladder to success -- no wonder some artists thank the fans).

There is a rumble in the trenches of fandom -- so I'll share some of the stuff I am hearing in different places. Besides my hearing this, these are my thoughts as well.

It seems to me that if a record label has a solid crowd-drawing, moneymaking, act on its roster, the label focuses mainly on that act -- the act gets most of the attention and promotion. (I do understand that is where the label's 'bread is buttered' so they invest for a big return).

Many (of course, including me) wonder why a record label would not use the opportunity to schedule some of their newer artists as the opening act for the Gigundo artist(s) on a tour. But looking around, that isn't happening very often.

In other words, hypothetically (hmmmm, hmmmm), if a label has -- let's just say...ummm Rascal Flatts or say Reba McIntrye, why aren't the opening acts on the Rascal Flatts' or Reba's tour from the same stable as the headliner? (I mean it could be a win/win situation here) Is it an unspoken rule or deal in N'ville that you have to have artists from different record labels on the tour?

Let's reflect on Motown. I remember little unknown label "Motown" and its shows with artists all on its label. The artists toured together and made a name for the label and reaped a bucklet-load of Benjamins (that's $100 bills for those that might not know). In other words, the label had different "profit centers" so to say, in each artist. Different artists have different fans, but if they are on tour together, they draw them all.

In fact, thinking of the American Idol Live tour, that is the hottest ticket around as far as concerts go. It is always sold out and the artists are all on the same "label" so to say. That concept sure has made a lot of Benjamins for 19 Entertainment.

Rascal Flatts has been a major draw for years and years. Why haven't their labelmates opened for them on tour? Thus, letting the label save money in promotion (because they promote several artists in the same ad blitz) and they are introducing their newer artists to a large audience (thereby increasing their fanbase and profits).

So, I just don't get it (and trust me, I am not alone here). We all know it is about the bottom line (again, the Benjamins), but if they allow several of their artists to tour together, it should be a winning combination. Do I make sense here? (I know this is a rumble among the fans - as well as how the labels seem to only be promoting the big guys and leaving the little guys in the dust). In some cases, if it weren't for the artists promoting themselves or the fans working on the street level, some artists would fall by the wayside quickly.

And -- another question -- why is it that when a CD contains several really good songs, that only two or so singles are released off that album? (There is lag time between production of artist's albums anyway) Why not release more than the two or so songs as singles? Is that also some unwritten rule?

Lastly, I have seen and I am sure that you have seen where on sites such as youtube.com, that a record label will pull a song off the internet due to copyright infringement. HELLO????? IS ANYBODY THINKING ABOUT THIS AT THE LABEL??? Why do you do that? People are promoting the songs, if you feel it is copyright infringement, use it to your advantage! Contact the poster and add a link for those that visit/listen to be able to download the song from that post. Fans are promoting for free, if you want to profit from it, use your brain!

And, (I know I said lastly, but this thought is related), when people attend concerts and are told by security NO PICTURES OR VIDEOS allowed. Again, IS ANYBODY INTELLIGENTLY THINKING ABOUT THIS?? The artist is losing valuable promotion that is being offered for free!! For every music video post on the internet, fans are drawn and new fans are made. Especially in the case of American Idol artists who would truly benefit by free fan promotion. (I personally have been asked to 'cease recording' at an American Idol concert).

So, with the music industry complaining of their loss of revenues etc, is anybody actually thinking outside the box? I hear the fans rumbling so maybe the fans should starts making some noise at the labels themselves. Just saying... (fyi.. I don't yell and I don't necessarily rant.. I'm just thinking out loud kinda)

I just recently shared about Jason Michael Carroll and I do from time to time because he is really talented (and he is a really good guy). So, that being said, I found this video that I wanted to share with you. Well, a friend posted this video on Facebook and it touched my heart so I had to share it with all of you.

Mind you, if you know me, I am a UGA Bulldawg by osmosis. I watch the SEC games, I watch the draft, if I watch NFL games (besides my home state) my favorites are the teams with players that are UGA alum and those that serve the Lord. UGA has many players that love the Lord too, but I happened upon this video tonight and so even though Tim Tebow is a Gator, I am posting it. (I forgive Tim for being a Gator .. and aferall, he is a brother in Christ so ya gotta love him :)

Deep in the Heart of Texas -- Anna Thomas, Singer/Songwriter

I am unable to blog tomorrow, so today you get two blogs :)

People are always sharing with me the names of artists that touch their hearts for one reason or another. Sometimes that artist's name is not a household word, but he or she may be an aspiring musician following their dream or following the Will of God in their lives, as the case may be.

In the past few months, the name "Anna Thomas" has come up in conversation and has been shared with me on several occasions. Several people thought I should check out her music--which I did. I not only enjoyed Anna's music, but became interested in the person--a very mature and driven young lady. (Well, you know me -- I'm a people person and the person behind the music is what makes the music special, or not) This young lady is blessed with voice as well as a talent for songwriting.

I had the opportunity to interview Anna Thomas and would like to share with you what I learned in our chat, but first let me say thank you to Anna for allowing me to pick her brain so that others can get to know a little more about her and her music (and thank you to her parents for raising a grounded and beautiful daughter and special thanx to her dad for making the interview possible).

So world, meet Anna Thomas:

Q – Anna, For those who have never heard of you, can you please describe for me “Who is Anna Thomas?”

A- I am 13 years old and my birthday is in March. I was born in Memphis and now live in the Dallas Texas Metroplex. I am a singer/songwriter and love all kinds of music.

Q- How would you categorize your music for those that have not had the opportunity to hear it as yet?

A- It’s hard to give you one specific genre, but I guess it’s mostly Indie Pop or Indie Rock. I am influenced by rock, jazz, and pop music.

Q- I understand that one of your songs attained the number one spot on several music charts. Can you tell us a little about your song Trace of Light?

A. It has made several top ten charts on broadjam.com. It’s a song about hope and holding on through difficult times and trusting that things will be ok. For me my faith in Christ is what gets me through these times. I wrote it as a promise and as a reminder to myself not to lose hope. I was listening to Vanessa Carlton when the idea for the song came to me.

Q- What do you want people to come away with after listening to your music?

A – I want them to enjoy it and to be entertained. If they can relate or connect to the song in some way then that’s great too.

Q –How old were you when you realized that you were blessed with musical talent and how did you come to discover it?

A - In 3rd grade I was in my first church musical. I was afraid to take a solo but the director encouraged me to give it a try. I ended up really enjoying the experience and it boosted my confidence and made me want to try more musical things. I started realizing I could write at age 11 when I began taking music lesson from my teacher, Matt Gaskins. He was helping me with voice and guitar when I started showing him some songs I had written and we began co-writing and performing live over the last year.

Q – Did you have any musical influences in your family?

A – My grandfather is a musician and played on lots of music that came out of Memphis. He is a trombone player and played with the Memphis Horns and recorded at Stax studios. My dad also played in bands over the years and still plays regularly at church. My Aunt Kelly and my music teacher Matt opened a music school where I live called the Neighborhood Arts and Music School (NAMS). My mom is an artist, along with my sister, who writes amazing stories. My family is very creative and has always encouraged me to be creative.

Q – Are there any particular artists who have had an impact on you or inspired your musical style?

A – Switchfoot, Vanessa Carlton, Fiona Apple, Ingrid Michaelson, The Hush Sound, A Fine Frenzy, and all sorts of Japanese music.

Q – What instruments do you play, which is your favorite, and why?

A – Piano and a little guitar. I’m figuring some stuff out on the accordion and that is pretty interesting. I’ve found the keyboard to be most helpful for writing and I think one day it would be fun to get a keytar!

Q – What are the names of 5 artists you have recently played in your iPod or CD player and which one is your favorite in that list?

A- Regina Spektor, The Beatles, Adele, The Kooks, Switchfoot. Switchfoot is my favorite. I have memorized every song on every single CD of theirs.

Q – I can’t forget the standard “duo” question, so if you had the opportunity to record a duo with any artist of any genre, who would that person be?

A – Jon Foreman. No question!

Q – For such a young age, your lyrics are deep. Many of your contain particular symbolisms which seem to reflect a deep faith in God, is that where you get the inspiration for many of your songs?

A – Absolutely! I would say that most of my songs are heavily influenced by my faith.

Q – Is there anything in particular that you believe God has been teaching you lately?

A – I think He is teaching me not to be so hard on myself.

Q – Would you share how you go about writing your songs? Do you write both lyrics and music?

A – Yes I do. I have no particular technique though. I’ll either have something I really want to write about and then add a melody or I will have a melody stuck in my head and I will add words.

Q- Of your own songs, do you have a favorite? Tell us a little about it and why is it your favorite?

A – I have a couple. Right now I think Little Red and Trace of Light might be my favorites. I like Little Red because it’s upbeat and fun. I like Trace of Light because it is sort of my own personal testimony.

Q – Are there any plans to record a CD or to attempt to secure a record deal in the near future?

A - I’m sort of in the middle of working on a full CD right now. I have about 15 originals to sort through. I already have an EP that can be purchased online or at shows. I’m hoping to get the new CD finished so people can buy it before I lose my youthful charm! :)

Q – Are you currently concentrating your performances in Texas or will you be venturing on a tour at any time in the near future?

A – Right now it’s pretty much all in the Texas area. It’s definitely a goal of mine to play in Japan one day. I’ve always wanted to go there. But if you know of any gig opportunities, let me know!

Q – Have you considered trying out for American Idol? If not, why?

A – I have thought about it. But I won’t be old enough for 3 more years, and I am not a patient person. I just want to keep pursing music and doing what I love.

Q – When was the last time you cried and why?

A – Hmm…. Wow, I cry a lot! I cried at my church camp this summer almost every single day.

Q – When was the last time you laughed and why?

A – I laugh even more than I cry. I laughed just now!

Q – Where can people go to hear or buy your music now?

ok.. so as a writer, I must be objective with respect to certain things, but since this is my blog, I can shamelessly promote those artists that I support. As I have said before, people that I am drawn to are humble, genuine, caring, without airs and pretentiousness, so whowouldathunk, but that also describes the artists that I prefer. (I have had the opportunity to see many artists behind the scene and the ones that think they are "all that and a bag of chips" sadden me because they have lost--or maybe never had--appreciation for "regular people" and for the fans that got them to the place they enjoy) (News alert to those "bag of chips artists": It was God that blessed you with that voice and because you chose to enter the entertainment industry does not make you better than anybody else)

That being said, let me shamelessly promote a few of my favorite guys:

Bucky Covington's new CD should drop in the next few months.. we are waiting and very excited to hear the new songs. On August 11, 2009, Bucky performed at the Opry in Nashville and Lyric Street recorded a little of that performance so I am sharing it with you here. Jason Michael Carroll is one artist that I have seen more times than I can count on my fingers and maybe even more than if I added in my toes :)

(I'll tell you a little secret -- I did NOT want to like Jason Michael because when I first went to see him perform, I was there to support Bucky Covington, but after hearing Jason Michael and after meeting him, how could anyone NOT like him??)(Besides, Bucky already knows that he is special in my book)

Jason Michael Carroll is blessed with an amazing voice. If you read my blog, you know that I have said on occasion ...you just don't expect that voice to come out of that guy!!

Jason Michael writes from personal experience and so his songs are moving.

The last time I saw Jason Michael (which I haven't blogged about -- my bad! -- it was last month), he told us that the song "Hurry Home" on his sophomore CD (currently in stores), is based on a family experience -- his aunt left the family and was gone for about 13 years (to my recollection). The family never gave up hope and finally one day, she called home and came back to be reunited with the family.

The video for Hurry Home has just been released and it definitely delivers. I found myself tearing up watching parts of it. There is a part where all music stops and it is as if Jason Michael was singing directly to you.

Ok, I'm sorry... everyone has been asking me when I will be posting another blog. I am sorry, yes, I have been quite lax on my blogging lately because I really have been extremely busy and just haven't been able to find the time to sit and post.

I do have a number of really good things to post -- several concerts and an interview or two. I will do that now that summer is winding down and the routine will be get back into the grove.

Tribute to Michael Jackson -- One Story of His Impact

Just a few weeks ago, we lost several of our most famous people -- Farrah Fawcett, Ed McMahon, and Michael Jackson. I haven't posted anything about these events because I felt that it had all been said and it continues to be said.

Many people have stories of how Michael Jackson was an inspiration to them in some way or another which helped them to achieve their goals in life. This story is a little different and I am posting it because a friend of mine was personally and deeply affected by Michael's passing. My friend never knew Michael other than through his music, but he definitely impacted her life.

After much thought, my friend gave me permission to post her tribute to Michael Jackson anonymously in that it was cathartic for her and also may be able to help others as well. (this story is not autobiographical from me -- this truly was written by a friend of mine)

I want to thank her for sharing this with me at all because I know that it was something she had to do for herself and it is hard sharing. I want to send her some special HUGS too. She has grown into a wonderful woman.

Will a star ever shine so bright? Will a voice ever soar so high?

Will a face ever be so recognizable all over the world again?

Will one man ever have such a huge impact on popular culture and the people who live it again?

Will we ever again feel that we are standing in the presence of supernatural greatness?

I do not have answers to these questions but what I do have is why Michael had such an impact on me.

I’ve spent days with ideas floating in my head and songs that beg to be written just to put my feelings to paper. It’s those feelings that make me unsure of how to put together this tribute.

If you lived in his lifetime you got to experience, something that I believe only happens once. We know the legacy that he has left behind for us in his music and of course, we can all think of times that it has been a huge influence. For me however it was more the man behind the music as well as the music that spawned my absolute love of a man by the name of Michael Jackson.

As a child, of course I had no idea that personally he was different from other adults. Nor did I notice the plastic surgery or the lighter skin. As children, we just accept some of the things that happen. I am going to tell you a story that is the only way I can think of doing it so here we go.

I was born musical; I was born with that driving desire to create. I was born with the desire to sing and play music. However, I grew up in a very dysfunctional family and felt very misunderstood my whole life. I do not come from a musical family but music from a very young age became my escape, my happy place. The place I could go and forget the world around me and how cruel it was to me.

This tribute will never be published because the things I am about to tell you are very very personal. They are not things I would normally divulge but they have to be told in order to bring the reality of how Michael impacted my world to light.

I was adopted as a child into a family that was supposed to love me. The reality of the life I have lived is quite different. My first clear memory of Michael Jackson comes as a teeny tiny little girl. I grew up in a very physically, mentally and emotionally abusive home with very little love. I would hide in my room with my little radio and just listen to get away from it.

By the time, I was 6 years old the molestation started and my innocence and childhood gone. Music became my everything because it made me happy. I remember hearing this voice and it felt like magic had just ran down my spine.

I remember falling in love with that voice immediately before I even knew who it was. My first conscious memory of seeing Michael Jackson was when he sang “Man in the Mirror” on an awards show. I was 10 years old when I finally got to see who had been singing me to sleep at night and who had been making me feel so safe in such a scary world. Yes I really do mean that his voice made me feel safe.

Michael Jackson was the first person to ever make me feel safe and as if I belonged in this scary world, I had been born into. The song “Man in the mirror” would stick with me my whole life. Michael is who taught me to love what I saw in my mirror. Even though everyone around me made fun of me, my face, my weight, everything.

I’m Native American by birth but was raised in an Irish family. Was it jealousy that made them treat me so bad? I have no idea but I hated myself because of the way they treated me. I can remember as far back as I can think wishing I had been born with a normal American face instead of the one I have.

Music taught me a few things like “If you can dream it up then you can do it.” Also things like “The only barrier you have in life is how far you will let yourself dream” and finally “ You do have to make piece with the Man in the Mirror”.

I remember begging for the Bad album, which I got for my first communion. I fell more in love with his voice and was enthralled by his dancing ability. As I grew from Child to teen and started to notice boys, Michael was one I noticed because he was gorgeous. He had the most beautiful smile and the most joyous laugh I had ever heard. As I got older, I started to hear how people thought he was so strange. To me he was so normal at that time I didn’t realize just how different I was then most kids. I had scars inside that nobody could see or understand. I remember when my Mom finally found out my Dad had abused me she called me a liar. I was a damaged person who nobody understood. I related so well with Michael who I believe to this day is one of the most misunderstood people to ever live. He was gentle, with such a huge heart and a child like outlook on the world. Michael dared to dream big no one not even Michael had any idea how far his dreams would carry him.

In 1993 when he was accused of child molesting my heart was hurt. I remember looking into his eyes in the various pictures I had hidden in my room. (My Mom refused to let me keep pictures of him if she knew I had them so I hid them.) In my mind, thinking this is not true; in my heart, I believed he was innocent. Some would say oh it’s just hero worship; it wasn’t. That man was not capable of doing something so horrific to a child. As an abused child I believe I would have felt something if it was true. Same thing 10 years later when he was charged again.

You see I’m one of those people that have to get to know the person behind the music for the person they are. I can’t listen to an artist and not need to know who they are and what drives them to make the music they do. I have always felt connected to Michael he was in truth my hero, my safe place. But at the same time, he was amazingly talented and an absolute joy to listen to. You can hear his heart pouring out of his music and much like me; he comes alive when music comes into the equation. I’m also very shy and introspective and tend to be very reserved with the people around me.

Michael was a shy, quiet but yet hysterically funny and fun person to be around. He was a normal guy, which most don’t give him credit for. He loved women and had some amazing moves but he struggled to find his “place” in this world. The place where he felt like he fit in and could be himself. As Michael struggled to do this his heart truly was with the children of this world. As someone who didn’t have a childhood, he yearned to make others worlds better. People pointed their fingers and called him freak or weirdo because they could not understand the man he needed to be. To me he always made life make a little more sense. His music will live on in my heart for the rest of my life there is no doubt about that. I’ve thought long and hard about this and I hope I got across what I intended but for some reason I feel like I’m not done. However, I’m at a loss of words for how to end this.

I was devastated when I heard of Michael’s passing. Why? Well I hope this helped explain a little bit more on how Michael and his music has shaped me through my life and how he as the person has helped teach me what kind of person I wanted to become. His music nurtured a damaged spirit and helped heal my soul. His smile made me yearn for happiness and learn that the purest love given is given without strings. His chart breaking success made me admire as I dreamed bigger for my own self. His laugh made me happy and his ever-changing skin color taught me that change is not always bad. He also20taught me that the innocence of a child should be cherished as should that unconditional love of a child be cherished.

When I heard the song childhood in that song he sings, “Before you judge me try hard to love me” I can honestly sit back and say that I loved him with all my heart. With the innocence and intensity of childhood and with the admiration of an adult, my feelings have never changed. I don’t know why in my darkest hours God sent me Michael but I will be forever grateful for the time I have had with him on this earth even though I never knew him in person. It is how you let their music affect your life that is the greatest compliment to any artist.

Michael, I want to thank you for 25 years of music, love, memories and courage that you gave me. I want to thank you for helping me find my voice and discover my own passion for singing. All these things I share with my children. It’s with a very heavy heart that I try my best to accept why God had to take you so soon. Hey All,
I have REALLY TAKEN A LONG VACATION (from blogging that is)!!

I have been kinda busy lately and even though I have been going here and there, I haven't posted a blog. I have several drafts and a bunch of pictures, but I just haven't sat down long enough to actually post one.

I am prepared to get back into the groove. I even have a few interviews I will be posting at some point in addition to several concerts -- 4! That I haven't posted about as yet.

So, forgive me and let's move on from here.

Congratulations Kris Allen!!! American Idol Season 8

Well, I missed the final competition of American Idol on Tuesday and had to watch the youtubes – thank God for those of you that record and share! (I saw my special AI guy and will post about that when I get a second – now is not possible).
I also missed the finale tonight, but my tweeps were tweeting their hearts out and giving me a play-by-play. Thanx all of you that sent me the run down so I can later find all of the related youtubes.

DISCLAIMER…. My blog.. My opinion  but you can share yours too.

I am truly happy for humble Kris Allen. My preference, if you read my blog, is a genuine, humble, and kind person. Not saying that there were not a few of those people this year, but it’s that vulnerable quality that I admire – someone that doesn't think they are “all it”.

This opportunity is huge for Kris. I ask that we continue to pray for him and Danny and those that go on the road and are taken from family into that “biz”.
Allen Lambert (HAHA SORRY, THIS WAS POINTED OUT TO ME.. FREUDIAN SLIP) I mean ADAM LAMBERT has success in the bag already – he is going to be a star and jump out at the gate--just like Daughtry. With his vocals, I am sure that his CD will knock their socks off. The way I think it works is that 19 Management usually signs spots 1 and 2. The Idol has to release a CD before the number 2 person. Either way, there are a few new discovered talents from this last group.
I can’t wait to go watch all the youtubes.

I heard that Keith Urban and Kris Allen a number together and I would love to see that one especially.

American Idol -- the Christian Vote?? Kris Allen / Adam Lambert

I just watched The O'Reilly Factor concerning the possibility of the Christian Vote electing the next American Idol.

I think the Christian vote has been a factor on every season of American Idol. The southern states (Bible Belt) have had many contestants over the years and those states make up a high percentage of voters for the show.

As far as the Christian vote goes, I say, well, Christians are supposed to be a family according the Bible. We are supposed to discern and view things as God views them with spiritual eyes. Singing contest, sminging contest... you don't only vote for a contest based upon the contestants voice (even Simon knows that and says it at other times). Why do you think they give everyone a makeover!? Because the winner needs to have the "package", the "look", that "appeal".

Kris Allen appeals to some people and Adam Lambert appeals to others, but I would hope that Christians would vote for a brother in Christ so he can go about doing his Father's business.

Well, I got a notice that my Twitter account was suspended -- for no reason on my part I might add.

It is very difficult to figure out how to deal with getting it unsuspended so I hope that I am able to do that (I'd had to have to start from scratch again and build my friends from memory)

Being that it is Saturday, I don't know if that means that I have to wait until Monday to get someone to respond. The "help boards" say it could also take several weeks which is not very encouraging.

I just wanted to post another thought before I hit the sack. I do actually hear my pillow calling me.. or is that the tv on in the other room?

Anyway, I am a believer in God's Word. One of the scriptures that allows me to rest in Christ and makes life less stressful is Romans 8:28. ("All things happen for good to them that love the Lord according to His purpose"). Soooo, since it is evident that Danny loves the Lord, we know that God has things already worked out for him. So we can celebrate in that. Danny definitely has a musical future. (Mandisa tweeted that maybe her and Danny will duet.. oh that would be really great!)

I wanted to make a plea to all those out there the love the Lord and those who are Danny Gokey fans. Adam Lambert is already a star and doesn't need the AI title under his belt. His has an awesome voice and stage presence (not my style, but still really good). There is no question that Adam will have a great career.

So, I am asking you to vote for Kris Allen for the American Idol -- Kris, like Danny, is a brother who loves the Lord and is humble and talented. To God be the glory!

Life, Life, Life.. you know the drill.. well, I can apologize for not blogging this last week or so, but that gets old since the last few months have been so busy that I haven't been able to get on and blog as much as I would like. (I'm still asking forgiveness anyway -- life just gets in the way sometimes, so sorry)

So since we are getting to the end of this season's American Idol, I thought I would post about one of last year's other alumni, Brooke White.

Where is Brooke White now you ask? (well, even if you didn't, I'm going to tell you--so keep reading!)

Brooke has been working hard writing, recording, and wearing all different hats including chief cook and bottle washer (that means she does it all!) She is working on every aspect of her upcoming release including the artwork for the cover!

Brooke has just shared that her new CD will drop over the summer.

Not only is Brooke beautiful, but she has a sweet and tender heart. She is compassionate and genuine. (If you haven't noticed by now, that is the kind of person I prefer -- a REAL PERSON -- not a phoney or someone that thinks they are better than everyone else. I do a little "heart-throscopy")

Brooke is multi-talented and her voice is mellow and memorable. One of her inspirations is Carole King .. who is someone I have always enjoyed and whose songs were a big part of my youth.

I am sharing the info, but to make it easier, I am posting Brooke's blog for you to be in the know.

“AMERICAN IDOL” TOP FIVE FINALIST BROOKE WHITE TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM HIGH HOPES & HEARTBREAK JULY 21

Los Angeles, CA () – As a top five finalist on last season’s “American Idol,” Brooke White won the hearts of fans around the world with performances that were passionate, vibrant and strikingly beautiful. She returns July 21st with High Hopes & Heartbreak, a rapturously tuneful album that sees Brooke channeling a few idols of her own—Carole King, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles and Elton John. The result is a stunning collection of songs brimming with warm, indelible melodies and hooks that stick after a single listen.

High Hopes & Heartbreak was produced by Dave Cobb (Shooter Jennings, Chris Cornell, Jamey Johnson) and executive produced by “Idol” judge/veteran producer/session player Randy Jackson. Well, I missed last night's American Idol and had to catch up on the performances after I got home. I was able to make it home in time tonight and so I watched the results show live.

I thought that Allison Iraheta might be going home and I was right. The girl definitely has a memorable voice and she is good, but she can't sing all genres -- and shouldn't have to be a success. At this point in the game, they are all winners. Staying on the show all depends on fanbase votes. I think a lot of girls vote for the cute boys they want to win so Allison may not have gotten as many votes for that reason. I also do think it was her time, but she has no worries. She has a future in music.

I am so thrilled Danny Gokey and Kris Allen who made it to the finals -- Brothers in the Lord and hoping they are used by God in their careers and continue to give God the glory. YEAH Danny and Kris!

I've been reading a lot of "garbage" on the internet by people trying to start rumors or diss who they don't like. So ridiculous how people try to discredit the ones they don't like without proof of anything.

As far as Adam Lambert goes, he already is a professional and has been involved with professional projects on TV and in theatre, so he has no problem moving into the biz.
He definitely can sing, but he's not my cup of tea. He seems like a nice guy though and so I wish him well.

It was good to see Chris Daughtry perform again. A little bit of trivia -- he and Bucky Covington were on the same season of AI together and got their tatoos at the same time. Chris actually drew Bucky's tatoo (a music note with a spur). Chris tweets and so he tweeted after her performance which is really kinda cool to hear someone share their thoughts. Chris Daughtry was in a Christian band prior to AI and I believe he loves the Lord. There are certain songs he sings that you know he is singing to God. I also admire him for his commitment to his wife and family.

Paula Abdul and No Doubt (Gwen Stefani) also performed. It was a good show.

I wanted to write everyone and say a few things, in light of recent events, to dispel any misinformation that may be circulating and to say thank you on behalf of my family and myself to everyone who has shown even the slightest bit of support to us and our efforts as a family to help eradicate this terrible affliction.

My brother, Adam, passed away at 11:52pm Eastern, May 2nd. He was 37 years old and leaves behind his wife and two children. We had played Sunfest in West Palm Beach that night, walking off stage at approximately 11:00pm Eastern, and I rushed to get on a plane to fly to Washington D.C., to be a part of the Race For Hope-D.C., a fundraiser for research and development of a cure for brain cancer. I learned of Adam’s passing upon getting to my hotel around 3:00am Eastern. I decided to run in the race, despite all of this, for two reasons. First, my brother never wanted his illness to affect others. That was evident in the fact that he wanted his illness to have no part in my experience on Idol, a point he was quite adamant about. So, with that wish in mind, I ran and was involved with the event as an homage to him. Secondly, there are many people who are still battling, and by running and sharing my brother’s story, I hope that it offers those still fighting that much more resolve to not succumb to this wretched disease.

I want to again thank everyone who donated to the race and continues to donate, sent a kind email, posted thoughts and prayers, called, etc. I take it as affirmation that my brother was the great man that I knew, and whose ideals I constantly try to uphold in myself. It is with those ideals in tow that I vow to continue to speak out in hopes of raising whatever necessary to help eliminate cancer entirely.

Also, I mentioned earlier that Adam never wanted his illness to affect anyone. So, with the exception of our Toledo, OH, show on May 6th, which we will do everything possible to reschedule, all other shows will go on as scheduled.

Lastly, thank you to everyone for allowing us, as a family, to grieve and come to terms privately. This event has shown me, beyond doubt, that I have the greatest people in my life, family, friends, and fans alike, and for that, I can never offer enough thanks.

To all those out there that are David Cook fans (Cookies), I just got word that Adam Cook has passed away.

A friend of mine is at the Race for Hope event this moment in DC where David shared the sad news with everyone. (thanx Jeanette - read below*) Before writing this blog, I confirmed it and it is true. Adam Cook has died.

A number of us have been praying for Adam and for David during Adam's illness. David and his family need our prayers for comfort and strength now.

I have met David Cook several times and he was truly grateful for all the prayers and support where his brother was concerned. (Jason Castro's Dreadheads joined in to support Adam from the getgo and David told me that he was very thankful to them for doing so as well)

Please pray that David and his family draw close to the Lord for peace.

For those that do not know, David Cook is a recording artist and the Season 7 winner of American Idol.

Joe Nichols - Believers song, video, and request

I first saw Joe Nichols in concert when I went to one of Bucky Covington's concerts. If you know who Joe is, you know he has endured some tough times in the last few years.

I also saw Joe's performance at the Opry the night Bucky Covington was on the Opry. It took Joe a lot of strength to sing through because he was extremely choked up with emotion and battling tears that you could see the lump in his throat and the tension in his face. It touched my heart so to know he was raw and honest.

Sometime after Lorianne Crook interviewed Joe after his stint at rehab. The man was honest, funny, and cute.

I heard Joe respond to an interviewer's question about where he had been and Joe answered by saying something like "I was on a vacation to get closer to God" (at least that is the way I heard it). Joe also said that he was going to try keep his priorities in place and we know that we all have to struggle with that at time.

Joe now seems to always be smiling and trying to get people to have a chuckle. Life seems to be good. I give him a lot of credit for dealing with his problems straight on and by realizing the Lord is there with open arms and it's okay to lean on them.

In 2008, a reporter for the Saginaw News (Sue White) wrote an article about Joe and in voicing his appreciation to his fans during his time of trouble, Joe shared: "It's just been great, more than I can ask for," he said. CONGRATULATIONS TO JASON CASTRO!!

I am so excited and so thrilled for Jason Castro's news. He did mention it in the video clip I posted the other day, but now Atlantic has made an official statement (see the end of this blog post)

Jason is in the hands that have made legends. Their roster has always been and still is impressive. I also like that the Christian band Skillet is signed to Atlantic Records. (and Jason is working with grammy-award producers that have worked with other Christian groups such as Lifehouse and Switchfoot). Atlantic seems to allow artist freedom and that is exactly what Jason needs because he answers to a "higher authority" (as they say in the Hebrew National hot dog commercial).

Jason is not a fan of "celebrity" in general so I pray that he is not caught in the pitfalls of fame. Knowing what I know about this boy and his family, I think he will be just fine and he will use his "celebrity" for good and charitable works as he has up to now. Jason has a precious heart and he has stated that he is SECOND.

Please keep Jason in prayer as he progresses on his journey through the shark-infested waters of the music business.

Any songs that are downloadable from my page are not uploaded by me. The downloads are placed here by links to a Christian music magazine which offers the songs FREE as a promotion in connection with the artist. The artist is not being ripped off and the downloads are not illegally obtained.

If the site no longer offers the download, the link will not work.

I appreciate that Ron has questioned this issue so that I could address it since others may also be questioning the downloads on my site.

HAPPY EASTER! Who is Jesus Christ? (Yeshua Ha' Machiah)

Well, today is Easter Sunday, so Happy Easter to everyone! WOOOHOO!

As I previously mentioned, I prefer to say Happy Resurrection Day because this day is so NOT about a bunny rabbit and candy. I don't mind that people enjoy that fun on Easter, but just like with Santa Claus -- satan has made a counterfeit to distract us from the true meaning of these days set aside to celebrate Christ. So, we just need to remember the real reason for these days as well.

I think everyday should be a celebration of Christ and what he has done for us, but not everyone is at that place, and so holidays always are a great time to celebrate and reflect upon our Lord, and enjoy them with our families.

HE IS RISEN! I am so thankful that I am washed in the blood. (I know that sounds gory, but it really isn't if you understand its awesomeness).

Who's risen? Risen from what?
Jesus, Christ -- is risen from the dead
After being beaten, crucified, and killed, he came back to physical life after three days of death! FOR YOU! (How is the even possible? -- it isn't unless...)

So, WHO IS JESUS ANYWAY??? And why do I care?

I think many people think Jesus is just another guy who started a religion or that a religion was started by a zealous group of his followers based on his man-made philosophies, as has been the case for many of the religions of the world.

No matter what faith or non-faith you may be--whether you are a Christian, Jew, Mormon, Buddhist, Muslim, Agnostic, Atheist, or whatever, have you ever wondered who is this Jesus guy? Have you ever really researched anything about him? (or did you just take someone's word for it and run with that concept?)

It tends to be that many people take a position on something or someone because it is the popular choice and never research the facts for themselves (such is the case for evolution, political affiliations, abortion etc.. you get my drift)(It is actually a trend to protest all things Jesus right now -- how very sad)

Jesus was a rebel (probably like many of you reading this blog right now) He has been depicted as loving and kind (which he was), but he was not a whimp, he was strong and also forceful when he felt it was necessary (have you heard how he took a whip and destroyed the place when he got angry?) Jesus lead a spiritual revolution and stood his ground for unpopular principles during his time. No matter how society tried to kill him and still tries to kill him -- it just won't happen. He has shaped the world from its foundation and continues to do so. I'd say that is something pretty amazing.

If you research Jesus of Nazareth there is undeniable proof of his life -- both historical and spiritual, which will cause you to think and make a decision. (A decision that will affect your life now and after your spirit leaves your body for good)

Just a little FYI (and I don't mean to be presumptive, but I actually used to think that Jesus' last name was Christ -- oops.. NOT). Christ is not Jesus' last name -- it is derived from the Greek "Christos" for "anointed one". In Hebrew, Ha'Machiach means "Messiah" so the Hebrew name for Jesus (who is Jewish) is Yeshua Ha'Machiah -- Jesus is the Jewish Messiah according to the Scriptures.

On of the most prolific authors of our time, C.S. Lewis asks us is in his most famous book Mere Christianity * is Jesus "LIAR, LUNATIC, OR LORD"?

After researching the proofs of the claims of Christ, Lewis makes this provoking statement:
"A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic - on the level with a man who says he is a poached egg - or he would be the devil of hell. You must take your choice. Either this was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us."

Who is Jesus of Nazareth to you? Your life on this earth and for all of eternity is affected by your answer to this question.

True Christianity is not being religious (some people think I am religious -- I am SO NOT RELIGIOUS -- but to those that do not have a personal relationship with Jesus, they view me as such --it's all good). True Christianity is also not a philosophy of life or obedience to a set of rules and performing rituals. True Christianity is based on a personal relationship with a Risen God who is Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. (I'm not saying you can't call belong to or call yourself by the name of a denomination, but are you in a "personal relationship" with Christ? -- that's the key!)

SO, WHO IS JESUS?
WHO IS JESUS TO YOU?
DO YOU CARE?

There is so much to share and reflect upon and to learn, and I'm only trying to cause you to think a little deeper than usual today. If you are skeptical or you want to know more, there are many insightful resources.

They covered their door posts with blood of a lamb and the angel of death passed over them. Bucky Covington, and Jason Castro, and Jason Michael Carroll -- OH MY!

Well, some of my favorite guys have news all at the same time. Since I have been super busy and I have not been diligent on posting, I will fill you in on the news in this blog.

First, Bucky Covington's new single I Want My Life Back is beginning to be played on the radio. This song is going to be a hit -- I can feel it. Check Bucky out singing the new song for the first time at concert. Bucky's sophomore CD will be released in the next few months. Keep your eyes and ears open.

Jason Castro has found a home at Atlantic Records and working with Kara Dioguardi and one of the guys who works with the Jonas Brothers .. on one of his songs at least. Jason is planning to release his CD in June. If you haven't heard some of the new songs, search Youtube for his Garland or Texas A&M University (TAMU) concerts

Jason Castro - Love Uncompromised on American Idol Extra

Hey guys, I just wanted to pop on and let you know that I am alive -- I promise :)

I know I have not been diligent in posting my blog for a bit. I have a few things in the works and I will also be posting in the next day or so.

Till then, if you haven't seen Idol Extra this past week (I don't get it, so I am thankful to those that post on youtube), I'm sharing Jason Castro's visit to the show with Jillian Barberi.

I like Jason's answer to Jillian at 3:15 as to what his song Love Uncompromised is really about and if he is looking for it or already has it. I love to read between the lines and knowing what I know about Jason Castro, I tend to believe his version of Love is in line with scripture so his answer blessed me (but I wish it was a little bit more explanatory). Either way, this boy's heart is filled with love and he shines his light even on subjects such as this.

Like I said before, many think that Love Uncompromised is about the wedding night -- and he did say it is something he thinks about, but doesn't have yet.

After celebrating his 22nd birthday this week, Jason Castro is in transit to Aggieland as I write. Traveling mercies for you Jason -- you're covered -- you travel a lot!

Tomorrow, March 28, is Texas A&M's community giveback "The Big Event". Jason Castro will be performing the concert with his brother Michael Castro opening. How cool is that?! WHOOP!

This is Jason's school. He is a Texas A&M Aggie through and through and appreciates his Aggie family's support.

MANDISA releases her sophomore CD "FREEDOM" -- Download "My Deliverer" Free

Bucky Covington isn't the only talent that came out of Season 5 of American Idol. A number have parlayed their AI experience into successful careers. Not to offend anyone,I will only include Bucky's fellow contestants of which I am personally aware--those being Chris Daughtry, Elliot Yamin, Kellie Pickler, Taylor Hicks, Ace Young, Katherine McPhee, and Mandisa.

Mandisa left AI just before Bucky's exit and shortly after her AI experience authored her book IDOLeyes. I didn't read her book, but I have heard from friends that it truly ministered to them. I personally have not met Mandisa but know several people that have and she truly let's her light shine!

Her first CD, True Beauty, was released in 2007. She has since received a Grammy and Dove Award nominations.

Today Mandisa drops her sophomore CD Freedom. I am sharing a free download from that CD of the song called My Deliver. I think you will enjoy it. You can download it HERE.

Mandisa has recently lost 70 lbs. and is rejoicing and ministering to others in that area. She has grown even closer to the Lord in her journey to become healthy.

I worked in labor and delivery, newborn nursery, and pediatrics for years. I could write a book with all the the things that I have experienced. One thing that stood out above all was the preciousness of life and the grief when it is lost -- even before that life enters the world.

Before I get onto my soapbox, I feel there another equally important message here--that of being forced to do something against your faith. This could lead to someone to lose their career or go to jail. This is a severe threat to anyone who has a conscience--not just in this case. What if you were made to commit an act so totally against your values just because you worked in a particular career? This is major danger to our rights.

So I'm getting on the soapbox now--and it's Red and Gold with purple tassles LOL:
I have seen it with my own eyes, I know a child in the womb is a living child. My belief is what the Bible tells us -- life begins at conception when God breathes a spirit into that child. For those that do not believe in God, they think of the cells as just that -- a lump of cells -- how sad. I hope that they never have to experience a reality proving otherwise.

That being said, as a nurse I always had the right to live by my conscience and NOT take part in an abortion because it was against my core beliefs. Legislation is about to change that and REQUIRE doctors and I believe all medical personnel to assist in abortions against their own convictions. This will be both emotionally and spiritually devastating to someone. Unless you have witnessed it yourself, you cannot understand the depth at which it grips you to see such a procedure. (in its numerous stages)

Miley Cyrus / Hanna Montana - New Video - Bucky Covington..playing

I've been working on a number of things lately so I haven't had time to focus on sharing -- but I am posting a bit today. As you see, that will happen from time to time -- a lapse here and there.

God is good and I continue to praise Him for who He is and for his mercy and forgiveness.. and every breath that I and my family and friends take. (have you too?)

Thanx to Trish who told me about this video, I am sharing this video from the new Hanna Montana movie with Miley Cyrus. The video is cute and catchy. More importantly for me, I see Bucky Covington playing guitar in the back on the right side near the drums. Yes, it's the tall guy with the long blonde hair wearing a kind of greenish shirt (and jeans, of course). Way to go Bucky! We are so happy and proud of you!

This video might spark one of those dance revolutions .. I prefer the kids singing this song to "Crank That" which is also very catchy, but the words are filthy and a lot of people don't even realize it! -- and some don't care (it definitely doesn't give glory to God).

We've known for a while now that Bucky Covington had a role in Miley Cyrus' new Hannah Montana movie (soon to be released.) Bucky plays a member of Billy Ray Cyrus' band.

Thanx to Fran at Buckytownusa for pointing me to the first video to come from the movie.

The video is Billy Ray's song "Back to Tennessee" (listen to the words.. 'how sweet the sound'). Keep your eyes peeled for the shots of Billy with the band. Bucky is behind him -- first on the left, then on the right (with the full head of beautiful blonde hair).

There are a few quick shots of the band. Remember, this is just a song video and I hope we get to see a bit more of Bucky in the movie, but if we don't, there is always next time! (Way to Go Bucky!)

David Archuleta sings Selena's Como La Flor

This past summer I had the opportunity to take a number of really great trips to see some of my favorite artists in concert.

Several of those trips included attending the American Idol Live tour in several cities. Why you ask? To see Jason Castro -- and different cities offer different opportunities and meeting new friends in new places. Each attendance allowed me to leave with something special -- a fun experience, a new friend or two, a special memory. (I actually got to celebrate my birthday with a group of wonderful sisters and got a special birthday hug from Jason Castro and special song just to me from Michael Johns LOL)(Even more special was I got to pray with Jason Castro -- but I digress, this post is about David Archuleta)

Many of the Season 7 American Idol Alum dove head first into the entertainment business and are finally getting to pursue their careers along with a fanbase. Some are already on the radio because of the way AI contracts are written and others are working on bringing their music to you as soon as they can. (There is a lot of redtape in getting a song out to your ears for purchase.)

David Archuleta's songs can be heard repeatedly on the radio. He is now touring the country in his solo career and meeting fans. So, Thursday night (March 12), a beautiful sister DH (Lorraine from Texas) attended David Archuleta's concert in San Antonio, Texas. (I got to meet and talk with David a few times and he is one of those with a beautiful heart -- no wonder he and Jason Castro became good friends).

While at the concert, David (Archie as we call him) was asked to sing something in Spanish by the fans. (San Antonio after all has a large Spanish influence and population). Lorraine was able to catch this video of David singing a snippet of Selena's Como La Flor and enjoying every word. The fans singing along made this a really cool moment as well for David and the audience. (Note, if you don't know who Selena is, you can google her, or you might remember her from the movie that truly launched Jennifer Lopez's career "Selena")

Michael Castro - perfecting his God-given talent

Michael Castro, brother of Jason Castro the season 7 American Idol Alum, has been perfecting his God-given talent by practice, practice, practice.

Michael is also sharing that gift with others in concert while giving his time to a youth project based in Texas called Planet Kidz. And from the videos I've seen, the Kidz are loving Michael. :)

Michael had a gig tonight and I just wanted to let him know that we were there with him in spirit. Praying against the physical afflictions that he was dealing with today and asking the Lord to give him strength to get through the show tonight. Michael is a trooper and he was able to perform after all. WHOOP! (News from Michael -- he made it through the show!)

So, on another note, if you get the chance to attend THE BIG EVENT at Texas A&M on March 28, 2009 (see previous post), you might be blessed to hear both "CASBROS" (thanx to Kali for that term LOL)... or in English, "Castro Brothers" for those that can't figure it out LOL

Bucky Covington -- News out of Jacksonville, FL tonight

Due to a conflict in my own schedule, I was unable to get the opportunity to hear Bucky Covington sing his new single tonight.

News out of Jacksonville, Florida (where he was in concert) is that the new song is great! I can't wait to hear it so I will be searching Youtube and any other media sources online to see if anyone was able to record a video.

I heard that FLCathy may have something to share with us when she returns and uploads what she has captured. (She usually talks some great videos and pictures)

I am saddened that I will not be able to attend Jason Castro's next concert, but am anxiously looking forward to the rest of his career. I know I can't attend EVERY concert, but if I could, I would. (Jasonnn, come play on the East side next time :)

When I reviewed the information provided by the University, I immediately knew that Jason's participation in the event was typical JASONNN! Jason Castro has the "heart of a servant." Serving and helping others is rooted deep in this boy. His concerts to date have been connected to a cause and that is one reason that I admire him so (HE IS SECOND). Jason is also an Aggie and he holds Texas A&M dear to his heart.

THE BIG EVENT, held every year by the school, is a project in which the students show their gratitude to the surrounding community by taking part in service-oriented activities. This outpouring promotes interaction between the students and their neighbors.

In connection with MSC Town Hall, Jason Castro will be performing at Rudder Auditorium on Saturday, March 28, 2009 as part of THE BIG EVENT. Also, a little birdie (with a platinum streak and a faux hawk) mentioned that Michael Castro --Jason's brother and also an Aggie -- may be performing the opening set. This will be huge for Michael and very exciting, I'm sure. WHOOP!

Update on Bucky Covington's new single

Today I heard it from a Shinybass that Bucky's new single will begin to have airplay on April 6! I believe the March 16 date is the "ship" date, the date it gets sent out to all the radio stations.

Either way, it's still SOON!

April 17, 2007 was the day Bucky Covington dropped his debut CD -- and the rest is history!! (Shoutout to Irma and Rocky Covington who made this day memorable for me)

Bucky really did make history...(and I have said it already previously) but I am so happy to keep saying it -- BUCKY COVINGTON WAS BEST SELLING DEBUT COUNTRY ARTIST OF THE 2007 CLASS!

Bucky had three consecutive top 10 hits: "A Different World," "It’s Good To Be Us" and "I’ll Walk." (and I think that all of the tracks were worthly of being released as singles -- not one was thrown on the CD as a bad track or as we used to call it "the B side")

Well, the time has come for us to have some new music from the man. Wooohooo! (yes, I review music, but I am also partial to several artists as you can tell if you read my blog on a regular basis). (For the record, I appreciate "real" people, "humble" people, people with "good hearts" who are caring, giving, and compassionate -- that sums up Bucky in a nutshell).

Bucky's sophomore CD has a goal release date of June which is only around the corner. But, even more exciting is the release of Bucky's new single, "I Want My Life Back". I know, I've mentioned this before, but since it it scheduled to be released on March 16th.. ummmm that is 6 days..I think it is worth mentioning it again. (Like I said, this is my blog, so I share, you read--or not).

Many people have said to me that they don't "like" or "listen" to country music. You truly would be surprised at what is under the umbrella of this genre and you are sure to find many songs that you really like. Give it a listen -- why not start with a few of Bucky's songs on YOUTUBE and check out his new single on March 16th! (I'm sure you'll want to then buy the entire CD)

Danny Gokey - American Idol - Sob Story?

God works in such wonderful ways and mysterious ways. Even though we can't always understand or even see His hand upon the events in our lives, He is always continually working for His purpose and His glory.

I have been reading and watching items about the American Idol contestant Danny Gokey all over the news, in magazines, and online. The media is always hot to jump on a story and blow it out of proportion or for people to immediately grasp onto something and create drama over it.

That being said, put yourself in this boy Danny's shoes -- His wife, who he was deeply in love with, died only just this past year. (Mind you only a few months before he was interviewed at the audition.) Have you experienced the death of someone you loved deeply? Does that person continually stay in your daily thoughts for a long time? Do you cry? Are you in pain over your loss? The answer is absolutely YES! I think that grieving can take a year to three or more and some people never are able to deal with the loss.

Danny surely is going through his grieving process in the public arena and the story has been focused on (oh I hate those sentences ending in prepositions, but .. oh well). When Danny was first interviewed, I am sure he was consummed in the feelings of loss and pain. It is typical of people to pick apart and try to destroy someone that they do not like for one reason or another. Hence, all the negative stuff circulating around.

Danny is not the one playing the "sob story" card, but we also know American Idol loves a good back story to pull at your heart strings beginning with the tough lives of Kellie Clarkson and continuing every year focusing on someone such as Fantasia or Kellie Pickler. Many people pull for the underdog to win because they have well wishes for something better. Others, well...not everyone cares about the people, they just watch TV.

Also, speaking to those that have "ears to hear", we know persecution is satan's modus operandi. But, to God be the glory because no matter what, why, or how -- Danny Gokey's name is out there and is bringing attention to him.

I believe that those without a negative attitude in their own lives will see the light Danny shines and be drawn to it. God allows much for His purpose.

and again, Romans 8:28: "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."

There are others that serve Christ on this years show and I am praying for them as well -- join me.

Red Envelope Day - March 31st - stand up against abortion

If you know me personally, you know that I am a person filled with love, not hate, and definitely not drama.

I don't "debate" the things of God, but I will surely share and speak about those things openly. I try to live my faith to the best of my ability. I believe everyone has the "right" to believe what they want, even though there is only one Truth. I also believe that the Lord has given us the commandment to share that Truth with the world - and to do it in love.

That being said, I know that for everything that happens there is a spiritual reason behind it. It is important to fight things spiritually, besides taking action in love.

So, I am sharing with you about RED ENVELOPE DAY on March 31, 2009. It is actively participating in a cause with love and no drama. It is protest against abortion so that our concerns are heard by this administration.

The event is mailing a red envelope (or postcard) to the White House (or many and writing the statement on the back of it) -- not only will the numbers show support for the the belief that life begins at conception, it will also give an added boost to the economy by purchasing postage.

If you use postcards, you will save on the postage and still make your statement.

I remembr when I was in high school and we all gathered together in our cafeteria while we listened to music and pumped out a massive amount of postcard entries to a contest that we eventually won. The unified effort dramatically raised the number of our entry submission. Can you get together with your church, your family, your friends? Jason Castro promised that he would have his new music available soon. And according to an email I received SOON is VERY SOON! Sooooo, keep your eyes and your ears open!

Whether you liked Jason Castro on American Idol last season or not, it is undeniable that he has the ability to move his audience and to be memorable. In a time when music is "loud" and in your face, Jason has natural talent to gently touch hearts.

I think we are going to hear amazing music from this boy for years to come. If his Myspace is the litmus test for his widespread appeal, then this young man is here to stay.

Jason appeared on the TV Guide Network's Idol Wrap this week and performed what we believe will be his first single "Love Uncompromised". I am one for reading between the lines and breaking down lyrics. I have had discussions with people about the beautiful lyrics and some believe that in consideration of Jason's faith that the song is about the "wedding night". I also think that way as well, but that is only my opinion.

Bob Mayo - keyboards, guitar - Frampton

I have been so bad in writing my blog this last month.. and so much great stuff has been happening. I guess it's better to live it than sit at the computer LOL

Anyway, I will post some other things today, but something I wanted to write about is that this past week is the anniversary of a very special person Bob Mayo (Bobby to me) of Peter Frampton fame. We lost Bobby suddenly at the end of February 2004.

If you were alive in the 70's or a fan of rock music at all, you may know the album "Frampton Comes Alive" and the infamous line when Peter Frampton introduced Bob Mayo to the world "Bob Mayo on keyboards, Bob Mayo on keyboards" in "Do You Feel Like I Do." Bobby's resume was astounding and if you peek at the credits of many of the albums you may have, you would might just find his name on them.

Bobby was a very special person, so much so that if you met him, he would touch your heart in some way that would be a memory (even before his notoriety).

I remember the day I met Bobby--he stole my heart and for a good while I had his. We all used to hang out down the block from my house at Dolly's Pizzeria. (Hey to Enzo if you're out there. Hope God has blessed you and the family) There were lots of special memories after that including a very special New Year's Eve, the day we went to Alexander's so Bobby and Enzo could buy socks LOL (fun times), the day Bobby got his new convertible 1968 blue Camaro, and when we went to see other bands play or to the Beach Boys concert, and less fun but definitely memorable were the numerous hospital visits after his car accident. (Shush, don't tell, but there were many times we snuck back after visiting hours and stayed hidden from the nurses for hours! LOL and I was a nurse myself). One morning back in 1995, I walked into my office and he was sitting there drinking his coffee. Though I hadn't seen him in a long while I greeted him and said, "Did you get my birthday card?". He laughed and responded "Of course, you always remember." (and I still do).

Bobby remained a friend until he passed away. We had lots of talks about music and Jesus and wrote lots of letters (a letter is what we used to do back in the day before e-mail). Bobby will always be in my heart and he is in my thoughts this week. Thinking of him now always causes me to tear up.

I'm not posting the pictures I have as they are special memories not to be shared with the world.

Breasts, Cancer, Mammograms, and Bucky -- yup Bucky

I was talking to several of my friends over the last few days and I was amazed at how many of them or their friends/family have had cysts, lumps, or tumors in their breasts. Some benign and others were cancerous and needed attention. A handful of the women I know have had breast reconstructions made necessary because they had undergone mastectomies. (Mastectomy seems to be a too popular procedure of late)

If you took a few minutes to think about it, I am sure that you could make a list of women that you know personally that have or have had Breast Cancer. I know in my own circle of friends, family, and acquaintences, the number seems to be increasing each year.

This problem is something that not only women, but men actually can experience (though men are in the minority).

It is recommended that women do their own self beast exam regularly. Please visit The US Health Department's Office of Women's Health for technique and questions related to self breast exam.

The human species tends to think of itself as invincible. How many of us have thought "that will never happen to me?" (point taken)

Many people avoid doctors or dentists or anything related to hospitals if at all possible. That being said, it is the case that a large population of women do not go for physicals regularly and do not do self breast examinations. This is extremely important because mammograms are not routinely performed until a woman reaches age 40. We know that Breast Cancer does not limit itself to one particular age group.

For those that do not know what a mammogram is -- it is the diagnostic procedure which x-rays the soft tissue of the breast for abnormal breast tissue. For more information on mammograms, please visit The National Cancer Institute. Having a mammogram has been the source of jokes that women share with one another, so go get yours and you will have some new material!

When I had my mammogram, I found it very funny that the machine had a sign on it that said "BUCKY." It made me chuckle when I found out that women in other parts of the country also commented on seeing that same sign. (Bucky Covington has been involved with the cause for mammograms so it was a natural thought) But, alas, the machine was not given the name of our precious Bucky LOL. I later learned that the "Bucky" was the metal plate on which a woman's breast is placed during the procedure. (just thought I'd share that)

Since you are reading this blog, I can safely assume that you are on the computer on a regular basis, why not hop over to the The Breast Cancer Site and CLICK THEIR BUTTON to help give a free mammogram to women that cannot afford to get one. You can also support the fund and check out their merchandise. They have some really nice things for sale from apparal to jewelry that make great gifts.

Quoting from The Breast Cancer Site:

The National Breast Cancer Foundation estimates that each year, over 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and over 40,000 die. One woman in eight either has or will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Approximately 1,700 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 450 will die each year.

If detected early, the five-year survival rate for breast cancer exceeds 96%. Mammograms are among the best early detection methods, yet 13 million U.S. women 40 years of age or older have never had a mammogram.

The National Cancer Institute and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommend that women in their forties and older have mammograms every one to two years. A complete early detection plan also includes regular clinical breast examinations by a trained medical professional. Monthly breast self-exams are suggested in addition.

I was just reading through some of my recent posts and boy.. you'd think that the only thing I had going on is American Idol LOL... NOT.. but honestly, it is really a great show so I like to watch and post about it. And.. I have gotten to kinda know some of the people I write about and that makes it more special.

If you haven't guessed it by now, JESUS IS the most important thing in my life .. My Lord and Savior .. the core of my being. I AM SECOND! (Check out that website by the way HERE. (Did you know that Jesus -- Yeshua in Hebrew -- is the Jewish Messiah? You should check that out for yourself if you are Jewish and you would be surprised what you found out. One place to go for info is to the site of a True Jew as he calls himself -- AVIAD COHEN)

I was talking to someone the other day who asked why I bring God into everything and why I talk so much about Jesus. It reminded me of when I was in my ummmm let's just say... earlier young adult years.. and a friend of mine (Jeanne) always talked about Jesus. I remember telling her "you always talk about Jesus this and Jesus that. I love Jesus, but I will never talk about him like you do." Boy, God has such a wonderful sense of humor.

At that time, I THOUGHT I loved God, or I guess maybe I kinda had some notion that "loving" him was just saying I believed in him and prayed some prayer I learned in church. I didn't realize what it really meant to LOVE God or surrender my life to Christ the way He wanted me to, until I actually did it and He changed me from the inside!

I mean, let's face it.. Either Jesus was a liar, a lunatic, or Lord. Evidence surely shows that he was neither a liar or a lunatic so to me HE HAS to be who He says He was--LORD. (plus I have experienced some things that solidify that for me without a shadow of a doubt over the years)

So, if God says to put Him FIRST ---hmmmm does that mean that I go to church on Sunday and give him and hour? Gee, that leaves me 167 hours in the week that I devote to other things without including him??? Hmmmmm, that does not seem as though He is first then, does it? Either He's Lord of all, or not Lord at all (is something a pastor once said to me)

I recently read a discussion among friends.. (internet lets you do that) and people just don't get it, that including GOD in your daily life, or living by Scripture or sharing it .. IS NOT RELIGION. It surely might be religion to the person hearing it, because many tend to put Jesus in a box. "OK, Jesus .. you belong HERE.. in a box, and only in church or hidden .. or I need to keep you only personal and not tell anybody about you". That's not the Jesus I know.

Religion is actually manmade -- the rules and regulations, but surrendered to Christ, that is a totally immersed relationship with your creator, your savior, your Lord, your Father. It cannot be separated and left at the door or put under a bushel or hidden in the closet. It is the motivating force at your core. It is what your life revolves around and where your life begins and ends.

So, if you are like I was or like many I knew and know still, that say that they believe in God (and trust me, that was a motivating factor for me.. satan and the devils BELIEVE too and know without doubt that God is who He says He is, yet they tremble because they don't believe and surrender).. and God is not bursting out of your being causing joy and love, then you may want to ask Him what it is that you can do to get to the place He wants you to be in or make you into the person He created you to be. (It can't hurt :)

Recently I watched something where people were surveyed about Hell and what they thought happened to them when they died. A lot of people thought as I had, that if you were good, you went to heaven. (oh satan what a deceiver you are). No matter if we were Mother Theresa, goodness does not get you into heaven without God's mercy and forgiveness though Christ's death. (I know a lot of people do not believe that, and they definitely have the right to choose, but believing something that isn't truth, doesn't mean it's so). Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and no one comes to the Father, but through Him. (His words, not mine)

Happy Anniversary Jason Castro - his Dreadheads and Bucky Covington and his Buckaneers!

I have prayed for wisdom for a long time and I believe God has given me wisdom in many circumstances (I still need it in others), but I feel that I can pretty much "read between the lines" when I meet people and see or hear things. Something that I look for in a person is their "heart" -- beyond the earthly costume! If someone is humble without the attitude of entitlement or greediness, then to me, they are a special person. I think many of us are that way too, we like to root for the underdog or root for the person that doesn't think they deserve something more than someone else. Humility is a wonderful quality and that being said.. it leads me back to my boys...

Well, it is the three year anniversary of when America was introduced to Bucky Covington on American Idol on Season 5 in 2006 (as Bucky calls it "back in the day"). Bucky was a quiet and shy country boy who since his stint on AI has had many "first" experiences from flying in a plane, going to a real concert, and eating foods he never heard of before. Along the way, Bucky Covington has accummulated very dedicated fans.. supporters.. that saw him for who he was -- a diamond in the rough and who have helped him reach his dream. Bucky is on a roll--Touring, Breaking records, having 3 top ten hits, and living his dream. I am not sure if Bucky realizes it is his 3rd anniversary of his "debut" because he is over in Europe on the USO tour as I previously posted. Congratulations Bucky and your Buckaneers!

And therefore, it is Jason Castro's one year anniversary as well (Season 7). (It was actually Jason Castro's father that made me realize it was his son's year anniversary -- thank you Papa Castro for sharing your family with us). It was this time last year that we first were introduced to the dreadheaded Day Dreaming Boy who stole the hearts of millions by his appearance on our television set without even realizing it. It is also the one year anniversary of the formation of Jason's Dreadheads.

As with Bucky, Jason has diehard fans that are committed to supporting him reach his dreams. All things considered, even though we are all eager for Jason's album to drop immediately, a lot of redtape is involved when doing a project like this. Jason is really on the normal track as far as timing goes. He has been keeping busy and keeping us posted along the way which is very important.

This morning when I got online, I was met with a wonderful Anniversary video from the man himself wishing his fans a Happy One Year Anniversary. I will post it here for those that haven't seen it. I will warn you though, do NOT expect to have some overly produced greeting, be prepared to have the real deal without pomp and circumstance or put-ons. This is one reason why I love both Bucky and Jason, they are not phoneys, have positive attitudes on life, and are hysterically funny and loveable!

American Idol - Danny Gokey, Jason Castro, Bucky Covington

I feel so far behind in my posts because I took some time off. So much has gone on in the last week or so..geez.

First, let me say.. WOOOHOOOO Danny Gokey made it through to the top 12 on American Idol! Let's pray Danny makes it into the top 10! If you get into the top 10, you have better chance at making singing your career with a built-in fanbase. Danny is an ambassador for his King and I believe he would like to use his "celebrity" to help others in need with his non-profit foundation. Service -- the heart of a giver.
Here's a little about Danny and his performance from last night. (unless it gets pulled down)

So, that brings me to my next giver, server -- the person that says that at the end of the day, it's about serving others -- Jason Castro. Well, I have been remiss in sharing (and you probably already know this stuff, but just in case you don't...) that last Friday, American Idol had a Blue Carpet event at Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida. I previously blogged on the new attraction and how a daily winner receives the opportunity of an audition for the AI TV show (in fact, they even get to go to the head of the line!).

Both of "my boys" (I say that affectionately even though they aren't MY boys, I have my own boys which I love dearly, but Bucky and Jason have special spots in my heart too).. so where was I at... both of my boys attended the Disney event, participated in the motorcade, and received a lot of fan support (they sure did get a lot of screams LOL). Both Bucky and Jason were interviewed by various media and I have posted two video interviews for you below.

and just a little NOTE TO SIMON COWELL (from his comment this week on American Idol)-- You wanted to know where is Bucky Covington now? Well, Bucky is working hard and showing his appreciation to our troops overseas. Currently, Bucky is in Kosovo and has sent back a few pictures for us. I have spoken to him enough times to know that this trip means something special to him and he will do his best to make every one of our troops have a good time. Bucky can put a smile on anyone's face (even if they've been Botoxed! hahaha) (Thank you Paula Abul for standing up for Bucky!)

American Idol - Jump on Danny Gokey's Glory Train

First off, I have so many things on my list to post from this week, but I just haven't had the time -- I promise I will get to that. But, since American Idol is going to start in a few minutes, I wanted to get this post up.

Apparently, and from a reliable source, the official American Idol site no longer allows "prayer threads" on the forums. How sad is that!

There are a lot of reasons to pray for different contestants -- doing their best, their strength, their witness, their being drawn to God, or cover while in the "industry". Many of the contestants usually have a group people that believe in the power of prayer praying for them for one reason or another.

There are a number of contestants that I feel we should pray for this year--because they love the Lord or because they really need the Lord. It's been requested (and we were going to do it anyway) that we cover Danny Gokey in prayer this season. So, I am asking my readers to join us in doing so. (Voting for Danny helps him too)

In my research, and confirmed by others including a churchmate of Danny Gokey's (thanx Steph), Danny definitely is a "server", a "giver" and has plans to bless others in need already put in motion. He is surrendered to Christ. (Do you know what that means?) (Danny is the contestant that auditioned a few weeks after his wife's death even though he was still in a major state of grief).

The past week has had a lot of things going on .. sheesh... anyway, first and foremost, I have to give a shoutout to my precious Lord and Savior :) Can I get a whoop whoop?! Michael Castro/AI Season 8:
AI didn't air much of Michael Castro (just as they didn't air much of Jason Castro prior to him getting into the top 24) but they did let us know that he did not make it through to the next round of Hollywood performances. Michael only just started singing in public about 20 days prior to the audition -- talk about finding out what the talents are that God has given you and using them! I hear something unique and memorable in his voice and definitely marketable. God gave him a voice and I hope he continues to use it. (AI is definitely not the only game in town -- especially where using your voice for good is concerned). I understand Michael is already using his talent for good and inspiration :) "Way to go -Stro"

Do you talk to God?
So many people have said to me that "they can't ask God about something because they "didn't want to bother Him with trivial matters" or He is too busy" or that "He has too many other people to take care of" or "He just doesn't hear me or answer me." I believe that God answers every single prayer. Sometimes He says "Yes", sometimes "No", and other times He responds "Not Now." Most importantly God searches our hearts more than listens to the words that come out of our mouths. He also will stand firm on giving to us those things which He has promised. I have been guilty in the past (as probably most of us are as well) of praying for things that God said he would never give to us. I am glad that He opened my eyes to how stupid I was back then.

I received the following in an email and wanted to share it because it relates to that subject:

Are you waiting for an answer from God?

It's easy to think that God's not listening--especially when you've been praying that "one special request" for longer than you can remember.

Don't be discouraged! Here's what He says about prayer...

1. Pray boldly. God wants us to approach Him with confidence! (Hebrews 4:16)
2. Pray often. God desires a relationship with us. (1 Thessalonians. 5:17)
3. Pray in faith. He is able and willing. (Mark 11:24-26)

Well, I know my blog contains a lot of stuff about Bucky Covington, Jason Castro, and Jason Michael Carroll and some of the artists that I really like, but I just had to share with you and give Kudos to Bucky for a great accomplishment. YOU GO BOY!

The news came out this week, but I wanted to share it here as well because I am "so proud" and "so happy" that Bucky has gotten his recognition (and it brings back thoughts of when Simon Cowell said that he "doesn't see Bucky ever being the headling act"). According to Nielsen SoundScan, sales of Bucky's 2007 debut CD have reached 400,000. (WOOHOO!) That makes Bucky the selling country artist who debuted in 2007. Jason Michael Carroll was number one for a period, but Bucky has passed him along the way.

Both guys are definitely worth you going out and buying the music (the first CD and the second, and so on and so on). Both guys are also working on their sophomore CD's and, from what I have already heard, they both include great songs on the albums. (If you haven't taken a listen because you don't like country/southern rock, please do, I think you will be surprised on what you hear). Bucky and Jason Michael both give wonderful live performances as well.

Well, our boy Jason Castro may not have won the American Idol competition, but he's still gets to go to DisneyWorld!

Have you guys heard about the new American Idol event opening at the Orlando theme park? For those that wonder, because someone did ask -- Disneyland is in CA, DisneyWorld is in FL.

Get ready for the American Idol Experience at DisneyWorld. According to the information, there will be a parade of 25 former American Idol participants. Other than Jason Castro, I do not know who will be in attendance. Also sketchy is what more than the parade will be happening on February 12 when the new exhibit opens.
(It appears the parade is on February 12 and the exhibit opens February 14 -- is that so?) Sorry that I am giver of limited info, but if you are able to go to DisneyWorld on that day, let us know what transpires.

The new exhibit will be a daily competition and the winner is able to get an audition before the real AI judges and a chance to make the TV show. How cool is that?!

Superbowl XLIII Today -- NBC rejects commercial

Good morning -- after I posted yesterday's pictures, I kept feeling a little guilty that I did not post so many of the other pictures of the "special people" that I have meet and known over the last few years. I kinda felt a little guilty for not putting up pictures of Rocky Covington, Ducky Medlock, Jeff Cease, Steve Cook, Tom Hurst, Timmy Galloway, Trey Hill, Luke Bryan etc.-- because each one of them are really good people as well. So, I hope just giving them a shoutout will be okay :)
(and I just have to mention some special sweetheart ladies: Kat, Denise, Terra -- who have beautiful hearts and are so kind and giving). (Also, this mention is in no way meant to be a slight against any of the precious, awesome, wonderful sisters I have met over the last few years--especially those with whom I have been on road trips--you know who you are!).

So, today is the day --Superbowl XLIII will be making history in Tampa Bay (where it's warm!). Perfectly fitting for today, I was reading the most famous of all SIGNS that you see held up all over sports arenas everywhere: JOHN 3:16

It reminded me of a conversation I had with a gentleman on a plane recently who was on his way to the Giants/Cowboys' game in Dallas. He had been to an uncountable number of sporting events and always had seen that ever-present sign being held up by fans, but never knew what it meant. I shared JOHN 3:16 with him -- it is one of the single most important powerful verses if you stop and ponder it's significance. In case you too have seen the signs, but didn't know what they meant, here is the message:
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." JOHN 3:16

That verse is truly life changing if you grasp hold of it and apply it!

So, on to the events of the day. I actually prefer NCAA (SEC) than NFL football, but everyone loves the Superbowl, even if it is only for the commercials. I have my favorite teams for my own reasons and when they aren't playing in the game, I check out who on that team is my brother in Christ, or who went to University of Georgia (being I'm a mom of an Alum). Sometimes it's hard because both teams have someone special that you would like to see win.

It would be a momentous and historical moment for both teams to win, but especially for the Cardinals since the franchise hasn't celebrated since the 1940's, but I still have to root for the Steelers. I love when a person is outspoken about how Christ is their reason and their purpose in life. I don't really know too much about the players on the Cardinals (other than Kurt Warner who also loves the Lord), but I do know about the Steelers because they are in my geographical area.

A man of faith is definitely someone with dedication and conviction.

(By the way, I do watch and I do know about football, but my reasons for liking a team are my own, just as yours are yours :)

Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth -- Provide Bibles for Our Military etc

Have you ever heard that the phrase "Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth?" Well, it's acronym is BIBLE. Now, before you stop reading and close the page, I would love for you just to read a little bit longer.

Today's society has so many different views of the Bible in that many believe it is a book written by man (yet, they have really never even researched that conclusion) and other's believe that it is the Word of God, taken down by men, but inspired by God. I wholeheartedly believe the Bible is the Word of God and He has proven it to me personally and through scientific and archaeological research. How did you come to your conclusion as to what the Bible really is -- someone else's idea that you adopted or first hand research or experience?

I believe at the Bible says (and paraphrasing)...that everyone is given a seed of faith and they can either squelch it or allow it grow. I have worked with many people that were on death's doorstep and it is at times like these that you see them grab hold of that faith--whether it be a "seed" or a "tree planted by the river."

Right now we have many of our men and women who are healthy, yet still at death's doorstop. They may not pass thru that door, but they are at the doorstop nonetheless. I recently read something about how the ACLU had caused the military to disallow preaching or sharing faith when giving out Bibles. (The Gideons are a 100 year old organization that give out free Bibles --I am sure you have seen them in your hotel nightstand). It has been the practice for Gideons to give Bibles to our military when deployed. In the past, individuals have also shared their faith with those being deployed. I hate that that can no longer happen. Check out the Gideons Bible donation program HERE.

Another organization that provides Bibles upon deployment is Campus Crusade for Christ which is an off-shoot of Billy Graham's ministry. I believe that providing our military with the tools that will give them direction, comfort, and peace is important. What they do with those tools is up to them. If they do not believe, that is their choice, but the Bible being given is a gift. Many people do not see hte importance of giving someone, but have you heard the saying "There are no atheists in foxholes"? At times of stress and particularly war, people grab hold of their faith and cry out to God and having that Bible is precious.

Consider providing Bibles to our military. Please visit either the Gideons or the Campus Crusade site and check out their programs -- it is a way to support our military in a most important way -- in feeding them spiritually and emotionally. Check out the program HERE.

The other day I posted about Bucky Covington planning to release some new music. He is planning to drop his new single around "February Sixteenish" (But, I know Bucky will be in Europe and won't be able to hear it play for the first time here.. awwww). Well, we will be here to celebrate and are excited for you Bucky.

Since, Bucky posted a video about the single himself, I had to add this addendum.

Bucky's last single, "I'll Walk" made it to #10 in Billboard's Hot Country Songs Chart (that's three, count them --1-2-3, consecutive hits for our boy!). Way to go Bucky!

Well, I guess I am putting out a Public Service Announcement of sorts by this post, but I wanted to share this with you.

I have a beautiful friend Carrie or "Cariangel" as she is affectionately referred to by many. Yes, that is Cariangel's picture here courtesy of her website. Geez, I think it's been about 15 years that we have known each other--maybe more. We don't get to see each other much these days, but she is a special person that I keep in my prayers. One of these days we will get to catch a bite together or something when our schedules work it out.

I was reading about her new venture "Total-Laser" and I was really impressed to read her bio. I was not aware that she had become so accomplished in her field--and that it she had progressed to that point that she also was using it to help others, including cancer patients. Very cool.

Cariangel is a tattoo artist and also has her own shop. (Mind you, I will not be getting any tattoos, thank you. But, I don't judge those that have them either because that is their outer costume and only God can see their heart.) Cariangel did not rest on her laurels, she perfected her artistry techniques and has furthered her education to become a Medical and Cosmetic Tattoo Artist as well as a Certified Laser Technician (Lasers can help with a laundry list of problems).

I have worked with many cancer patients and when I read the section on how Cariangel is able to give women back their self-esteem, I understood. I really hadn't thought about that aspect of the tattoo industry since I don't think about tats very much. I also see the benefit of tattooing for burn victims and those with other problems (have a lot of freckles you would like to get ride of?)

Many of you that read my blog are all around the world (it is so awesome to see that too -- thanx), but I thought for those of you in the New York and Tri-State Area at least, I would let you know of Caringel's new business and all the services the are provided including hair removal (men, she even does backs!).

Cariangel, partnering with another Certified Laser Technician Dana (who also brings other expertise) and a doctor providing other enhancements, have opened their doors for business. They are located in prestigious Bronxville, New York in Westchester County (that has to say something in itself).

Jason Castro at International Film Festival for Amar a Morir (Jeff Buckley)

Well, yesterday was busy, busy, busy and I could not sit and collect my thoughts to share with you. It's early today and before I get up and go, I wanted to share Jason Castro's performance at the International Film Festival and premier of Amar a Morir on Friday night.

Already there are several videos posted on Youtube from people that had the privilege of attending this special event. Thank you to those that shared those videos with us!

You know Jeff Buckley is definitely known for his rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" -- and I like Buckley's version, but when I hear Jason Castro sing it, his performance touches a very special place in my heart. Jason's heart is invested and you know and feel that he is singing it to his Lord and Savior as praise. (See my interpretation of the song Hallelujah in my 12/4/08 post) (Jeff Buckley's mother herself was also touched by Jason's performance and shared her thoughts in an interview last year -- google it).

Jeff Buckley is, without a doubt, connected to the popularity of Hallelujah, but Jason Castro will definitely known for this song forever as well. Thank you Jason for praising our Lord before the world. (Jason Castro catapulted Buckley's own version to number one long after Buckley's death)

Well, first of all I need to say sorry to my peeps! I have been busy with some other stuff the last two days and haven't gotten a chance to drop by and say a few words.

It's time for the annual physical, the weekly grocery shopping, trying to answer all the emails, facebook, myspace, texting, telephone calls...oh and then there is work and all the other stuff that one does on a daily basis. (Talking to my Lord and spending time in the Word is a given so I didn't mention that in the list :)

Anyway, enough about me LOL.. so..

Tonight Jason Castro is appearing in Santa Monica, California at an International Film Festival which will feature the premier of the Mexican film "Amar a Morir." After hearing Jason's beautiful rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", he was asked to record the song for the soundtrack of the film. The people at the festival are in for a treat if they never hear of Jason Castro as of yet. We are so proud of Jason for each stepping stone he takes toward his dream. There has been a buzz in the air about Bucky Covington and his upcoming USO trip. He will be performing in Kosovo and Germany the third week in February. I can't wait to see if our "shiny bass" shares any videos with us from the tour or there is a TV special in the works. On another note, we hear Bucky's new single is being discussed. There a number of songs that he already performs live that are getting good feedback so we can't wait to hear the new single choice.

So, today I listened to a some of Cole Degges' (f/k/a Cole Deggs) newly recorded music. One of the songs is a favorite of a friend of mine. She has been waiting and praying that Cole's song "Missin' Mississippi" would be recorded on his next CD. On another note, Richie Fields has been climbing that stairway to success as well. His current single, "Devil In The Mirror," is being well received by radio listeners across the country. Richie has things in the works for a new recording project with producer J. Gary Smith (Smith has worked with an impressive resume of artists including Andy Griggs, Waylon Jennings, Mindy McCready, Lonestar, Darrel Singletary, Johnny Cash). I can't wait to hear the product that collaboration will turn out.

Prayers for Barack Obama and his administration

Well, today was a memorable and historical day--we have a President of African-American heritage. My grandparents were immigrants so I truly respect the American dream and the major significance of today's inauguration and the potential "shot in the arm" that could come about because of this historical event.

I grew up in a wonderful place and went to a school that came together in unity and beyond color. I was in the south during the time of Dr. Martin Luther King (oh, oh, don't guess my age), I also had a close relationship with Marian Anderson for several years before she passed away and she shared many of her experiences with me (Google her -- SHE IS A MAJOR PART OF BLACK HISTORY), so I truly understand the history and significance of today.

I am thankful that I grew up in a family that looked at a person as a person, looked beyond their human costume, and treated each person special. I am thankful that God has allowed me to have friends from many different backgrounds and heritages.

That being said, I could not let today go by without prayers for our new President. I read a wonderful prayer sent out in an email from Rory and Wendy from god.tv. I want to share that prayer with you here and ask you to agree in prayer as well. (the picture is also courtesy of god.tv):

"Father, according to Timothy 2, Paul exhorted that "supplications, prayers, intercessions and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and for all that are in authority that we may lead a quiet peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior". In obedience to Your Word, we join together this day, January 20 2009, with our GOD TV family all across the United States of America and join in one heart and one mind in prayer and intercession for our new incoming President Barack Obama.

Father we ask this day that as Barack Obama is inaugurated here in Washington DC, that You would look down from Heaven and in Your great mercies upon America look down this day upon President Barack Obama and grant him exceeding wisdom in these crucial days ahead facing him and the new administration. Oh mighty Father we pray as a united body to You, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that You may grant to Barack Obama the spirit of wisdom and revelation of the knowledge of Yourself this day. Father we pray that the overshadowing fear of the Lord would start to rest upon this new administration. We pray for Your sovereign hand to guide the President and those in his cabinet. We release YOUR purposes, we release YOUR plan, we release YOUR strategies and YOUR wisdom, we release YOUR governance. We pray for visitation in the President's night hours and revelation in his waking hours, that as he enters the pressures and the challenges of office in 2009 that he would be driven to trust in You as his mighty fortress, that he would find refuge and wisdom under Your wings, that he would seek Your face before he seeks man's wisdom and Father, that You would pour out word after word in season upon him from on high.

Father, we thank you that even as Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Jackson ruled in generations before Barack Obama, that You have placed upon President Barack Obama's shoulders a mantle to root out and tear up wickedness, thank you Father, that by Your sovereign mighty hand, You would imbue him with zealousness and righteousness to rout out evil men and sinister schemes. Grant President Barack Obama the courage to rule with justice and the wisdom to rule under God. And Father, as the body of Christ that we commit to You to lift him up faithfully and fervently. Bucky Covington going on USO Tour! YIPEE

Great news out of the Covington camp (thanx to a shiny bass) is that Bucky Covington and his band are traveling to Europe for a USO Tour (we believe sometime in February)! I am so thrilled for the boys and for our troops as well. A Bucky show definitely will lift anyone's spirits. (His band consists of wonderful, dedicated, and talented musicians in their own right) (If you don't enjoy yourself at a Bucky show, I would look for a pulse).

I had the special privilege of interviewing Bucky Covington last year and I asked him about his desire to work with the USO and to visit the troops. Here is a part of that interview:

ME: "We understand that the charity you work with is the USO. Do you have any plans to entertain the troops anytime in the near future, either in the US or overseas?"

BUCKY: "That is something that I really would like to do. I would like to perform for them in the States, but I would really like to visit them overseas. I can remember when I went on the three month tour with American Idol and how it felt when I was basically cut off from my family. Well, I wasn't entirely cut off, but it was a separation. So, I know a little of how it feels to be separated from those you love and how it can affect you. My separation from family is nothing in comparison to what our men and women in the service have to deal with. They are cut off from friends and family for long periods of time in a distant place.

I want to show my appreciation for what they do for us and show them we care about them and are grateful for their dedication. So yeah, that's definitely something I want to do."

I know this tour will be memorable for Bucky and the band. I hope the experience will deeply touch their hearts and the hearts of those that they get to meet as well.

(Gee, I can remember that before 2006, Bucky had never flown in an airplane. He sure will be adding a lot more miles to his tally with this flight.)

I know it is a little early, but I am going to pray and and ask each of you who read this blog to say a little prayer for Bucky and the boys and all join them in this this tour -- asking the Lord for their protection, their health, and guidance in all circumstances regarding this endeavor. Thank you Jesus for working all of this out.

Kara DioGuardi and Barak Obama

I know the title of my blog seemingly eludes to the fact that there is some connection between Kara DioGuardi and Barak Obama, but in actuality, the only connection that I am aware of is that fact that they both are in my mind today.

This morning I watched Regis and Kelly on ABC and Kara DioGuardi was their special guest. I previously mentioned that us "New Yawkas" know how to pronounce "DioGuardi" and that is because the DioGuardi's have been prominent in New York history for a long time now. Focusing on the political aspect, to my recollection, there were several DioGuardi's in prominent government positions during my lifetime.

Well, I came into the room a little late in the conversation, but I believe that Regis Philbin was reading his Family Tree and showed how he was related to the DioGuardi's. So, Kara DioGuardi and Regis Philbin are actually related back there someplace. I found that interesting. In working on my high school reunion, I found out that there were several people that I was related to as well -- that I went to high school with -- and I never knew it. Small world. Glad I didn't marry any of them LOL.

Well, tomorrow is the day that President-Elect Barack Obama is inaugurated into office -- a most historical event. I understand the major accomplishment this election has made with respect to civil rights and applaud that we have made strides in that area. While I do not agree with the politics of Mr. Obama, I do respect the position of the presidency -- and I know that Mr. Obama would not be in office if my God did not have a purpose for allowing him to be seated in that chair.

That being said, I feel there is a very difficult road ahead for this country in many ways and urge us all to be diligent in praying for our country and our elected officials -- and specifically Barack Obama. How many of us specifically pray as God directs us to do so?

Lastly, as a reminder, please also pray for the Peace of Jerusalem.

National Sanctity of Human Life Day, 2009

It's still freezing here in the northeast and the Lord decided to bless us with snow again. Sometimes it's hard to endure our blessings LOL ...I surely do look forward to the warmer, sunnier days so I guess these days make me appreciate those warmer, sunnier days even more.

I am only jumping in here for a minute today. I just wanted to share a presidential proclamation from this week.

It is almost 36 years since the passing of Roe v. Wade the Court Order that changed our society in so many ways. (I believe the ripple effect is much greater than people realize -- much greater than just the abortion issue -- life in general is no longer respected).

On January 15, 2009 before leaving office, President Bush issued a proclamation making today National Sanctity of Life Day. We may not see such a proclamation from the White House again with the "Changes" that are expected.

All human life is a gift from our Creator that is sacred, unique, and worthy of protection. On National Sanctity of Human Life Day, our country recognizes that each person, including every person waiting to be born, has a special place and purpose in this world. We also underscore our dedication to heeding this message of conscience by speaking up for the weak and voiceless among us.

The Lord commands us to pray for our leaders. I ask all of you to pray for the heart and the wisdom of our soon-to-be President Obama.

We also need to pray for our country as a whole as well and all the issues our people are experiencing. In particularly, there are several family and friends that are searching for employment -- this is a bad time to be out of work. Any prayers are appreciated.

Plane Down in Hudson River, Bucky Covington, Jason Castro, Michael Castro -- Oh My

Well, today was another frigid temperature experience here in the northeast. Just taking the trash to the curb caused my fingers to go numb and begin to feel pain. Thank God that I don't work outside and that I do not have to wait outside to take the train into the City.

I saw people bundled up and people that were not wise enough to wear appropriate clothing. It is really important to dress warm and stay dry when you go out in frigid temperatures. Some people may not even know of the possibility of experiencing Frostbite for exposure to freezing temperatures. Frostbite occurs when the tissues freeze and cause damage (nose, fingers, toes etc). It starts with that pins and needles tingling and can increase to a severe damage of the tissues. It is kind of like when you leave meat or chicken in the freezer and it comes out with that yucky freezer burn and you have to throw it away. My father had damage from frostbite he had gotten while serving in the military in WWII experiencing severe winters during his tour.

For those of you in the Sunny parts of the country and the world right now that can't even begin to fathom my comments LOL oh pooh! I hope you appreciate your weather, because we are wanting some of it.

Well, a lot of things have been swirling around in my head today -- Definitely how blessed I am to have such a wonderful family, all the news about what is being called the miraculous landing of the airliner in the Hudson River yesterday (and how people were praying with one another on board during the minutes before and after impact), all of the emails I have received about Bucky Covington's recent performances in Las Vegas and his upcoming shows, goings on of Jason Castro and Jason Michael Carroll, the buzz all over the web about Michael Castro's audition on American Idol, and the upcoming Inaguration and the Inaugural prayer.

Since there are so many topics running thru the brain today, I will refrain from concentrating on one in particular because it is late and it is cold, and tomorrow is another day (Lord willing).

I was told tonight that someone was waiting for me to write the blog and has been looking out for it today and it has not appeared as yet LOL. I'm sorry it's late, but I'm putting it up before midnight--so we're all good :)

I was also asked today why I write about music and musicans, well first off it is because I love music. But, I've gotten to the point in my life where I really don't care to listen to someone's music if they are not a person with values. I am saddened for those with "tudes" or are "divas", or that let money and their success go to their heads, and those who are not appreciative. Being successful at singing or playing music may make someone a celebrity, but in my book, they are just a person with a different career choice (albeit who makes lots more money), but they are definitely not worthy of being treated like a god--respect, yes--worship, no.) (My God shall have no gods before Him.) I do appreciate their being put into a position of influence that they can use for God's glory if they are willing (and when they do, I like them even more) and I do enjoy meeting them and being about my Father's work. I know He has caused me to be in certain situations.

Oops, well, guess what -- I sat here so long, it is after midnight in New York and so I missed my Friday night deadline. So, I am posting this as is right now and going to bed!

Thank you Lord for saving all passengers and crew on the airliner that landed in the Hudson River yesterday. I ask that you speak to the hearts of those who were on board and draw them closer to you--let them know you have a purpose for their lives.

Michael Castro -- Yeah for You! (American Idol, Jason Castro's Brother)

Well, last night's American Idol added a number of really good contenders to the race. I can see several of the contestants chosen last night finishing with opportunities before them.

There were surprises along the way in that the voices came out of certain people that you would have never imagined. It was like when America heard Clay Aiken sing for the first time. If these contestants go the distance, AI will transform each from average guy or girl into a celebrity. (There's both some good and bad in that aspect of it, but if the person is grounded, they should be able to deal with it ok).

I so wanted Danny Goekey to advance to the next round and he did. (Yeah Danny!) Danny recently lost his wife and was still experiencing the suffering and grief. I wanted to reach out and hug him and let him know that God loved him and America will love him too. Danny sang "I Heard It Through the Grapevine". I'm hoping he continues through the ranks.

Of all the contestants, you already know I was anxious to see our "special brother" Michael Castro. (the brother of Jason Castro). Michael did not disappoint. Michael is genuine and really a great guy. His voice has a distinct and edgy quality to it and I am excited to see how God will use him. (though we may never actually know, I believe he definitely will be used.)

I loved the interaction between Jason and Michael. This family is FUNCTIONAL and loving and truly love one another and the Lord. This family "walks the walk". I saw that Michael was wearing the other half of a heart necklace which means that his girlfriend (Miss M) must be wearing the other half. That made me smile, because in Michael's comment about Jason being more emotional LOL, the necklace jumped out at me and reminded me that Michael too is tender and sweet.

Well, I hope Michael made it through, but it's all up to God's plan.

If you check out my blog a few days or weeks prior to this one, you will see that Michael has already changed his hairstyle. (I know he loves the red, but he has blonde in it now which softens him a bit and I like it). Enjoy the AI video below:

American Idol - Michael Castro and Jason Castro

UPDATE: A little birdie told me that it was definite that the Castro boys WILL be on tonight's episode of American Idol (Whoop!)

Last night I watched American Idol, but the audition city was not the one in which Michael Castro performed his audition (at least to my recollection). I did though see two superfast camera shots of Michael -- One in the crowd in the front row of seats and the other in a speeded up clip of heads.

I think that Michael and his brother Jason will be in tonight's show. I believe I heard the promo mention "a surprise visit from a former finalist". I hope they were referring to when Jason was with Michael at the audition. (If tonight isn't the night, I will still be watching next week for the other audition cities.)

Last night, the person that stood out for me was Deanna Brown, the blonde with the soulful voice, who sang a really good rendition of Otis Redding's "Sittin' On the Dock of the Bay". This girl is truly talented, but I don't know if her voice will be able to do all the twists and turns of the AI genre shuffles. Someone does need to offer her a contract at some point.

The story that touched my heart was a different Michael -- Michael Sarver. He is blind and is gifted vocally as well as musically. His perserverance and overcoming attitude is what makes his story worth repeating. In addition, I can see him having a career no matter what the AI adventure brings.

I always love watching the show. I look more for a very special person that has a heart for the Lord and usually root for them :) (because they are usually filled with love and are beautiful inside) (MCas -- can't wait to see your clip. We already know you are beautiful inside)

On another note, please, please, please -- pray for what is going on over in the middle east. Biblical prophecy is unfolding before our eyes as well. Keep your eyes on the Lord and in His Word...and Pray.

Prayers for my friend Kaity

Hey all, I ask that you say a prayer for my friend Kaity now and again over the next few months. (Kaity and I met one night and the Lord bonded our friendship -- She too is a "Buckaneer").

Kaity is taking a semester in Uganda. It is an awesome opportunity and experience and I am sure it will impact her in a deep way.

Please pray for her health, her protection and her wisdom (and whatever else the Lord puts upon your heart).
